Welcome, and good luck with your projects!

[edit]

Annnnnnnd... this event has officially begun! Waving the "go" flag. ;-) New participants can continue signing up over coming days. Good luck with your projects, everyone, and feel free to chat here with any questions/comments/concerns that may pop up throughout July. I'll do a check-in at the halfway point. Midpoint check-in

[edit]

Hi all -- we're halfway through, with three articles successfully nominated and reviewed. How are things going? I'm hoping to get at least one more nomination ready by end of month (working on Dai Qing's bio). Alanna the Brave (talk) 21:36, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I finally finished and nominated Eunice Foote, who in turn led me to Elizabeth Wagner Reed, also nominated. I have a New Zealander I am working on and will submit before the end of the month, but am waiting on info (and possibly photos) from her grandson. SusunW (talk) 21:43, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nice! It's always interesting when information leads to something (or someone) new. I'm glad you took on Foote's biography -- I remember being rather fascinated when I first heard about her. Alanna the Brave (talk) 22:46, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Must say it was pretty intimidating. The biography, activism, and inventions, no big deal. The science and conclusions, head spinning. (Scientists speak their own special language, that is often unintelligible to mere mortals .) But, it aggravated me that all the sources that talked about Foote being "found again" talked about the dudes that re-discovered her. That was what finally tipped me over the edge to do it. Then when I discovered that Reed's work was also lost, I couldn't not write them both. The grandson of my New Zealander wrote last night and said it may be a "fortnight"? (2 weeks?) so it may not make it and I may instead make my last one a Ukrainian ecologist, but we'll see. SusunW (talk) 18:43, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

And... that's a wrap

[edit]

Nice work everyone! We've finished the event with eight articles nominated for GA and seven already passed successfully (six reviewed by editathon participants). I'll hand out event barnstars over the next few days. Best, Alanna the Brave (talk) 21:58, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
