Yakub (Arabic: يعقوب, also transliterated in other ways including Yaqoob, Yaqoub, Yaqub and Yakup) is the Arabic and muslim version of Jacob, a Prophet of Islam (see Jacob in Islam) and hence commonly used as a male given name in Arab, Turkish and Muslim societies. It is also used as a surname.
