Re:We Get Question Marks

[edit]

I don't have to have any knowledge of the subject to claim that the article is not written in a neutral point of view. The Paudash Lake article includes sentences such as "Try the famous Sir Sam's Inn, about an hours' drive from Paudash Lake, overlooking Eagle Lake. In Haliburton, you are always overlooking a beautiful lake!" and "Today, the Lake is a fine example of conservation efforts over the years and has an active Conservation Association which works diligently for continued success in this area.". In what way could that be considered neutral? It looks more like promotional material to me. ... discospinster talk 15:26, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I do not have any objection to an article on the subject of Paudash Lake, but it is not acceptable to use words such as "spectacular" and "fabulous" and "beautiful" in a Wikipedia article. There are sentences like "To sit quietly in a boat in the middle of North Bay at this time of year, leaves one to believe that they have departed planet Earth." This is what's known as "peacock language" and is generally used in brochures, not encyclopedia articles. Since you persist in removing the tag I've gone through the article and removed the peacock terms and anything else that is not written in an objective tone. If you feel that other articles have a subjective feel to them, you are welcome to add a relevant tag or fix them up as you see fit. ... discospinster talk 23:23, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you have a problem with the way I have been conducting myself on Wikipedia, I invite you to comment on the discussion I've initiated at Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard#Paudash Lake. You also have the option of requesting a Third Opinion. Beyond that, there is no more advice I can give you. ... discospinster talk 04:21, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
