Translating en:Deekshabhoomi to Farsi

Hello! I am en:Shivashree from India. I have been working on a project to translate the article en:Deekshabhoomi in major languages of the world.

Deekshabhoomi is a historical place in India where about 380,000 depressed class people converted to Buddhism on October 14, 1956 along with their leader Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. There is 55th anniversary of the event in the next month. We are trying to translate this article in major world languages by the time of this occasion. This article has already been a DYK article on English Wikipedia. It has been translated in Japanese through this project. Thai translation is being done. Urdu stub has been created. I would appreciate if someone of you can translate it to Farsi.

This is a satellite view of the building. Anyway, I don't know the exact photography policies at Iranian Airports, but people have uploaded photos of Mehrabad Airport - There is a Commons page at Commons:Category:Mehrabad_International_Airport.     Photography is not banned in public areas in the airport but the problem is this building is not public. There is no sale office or something like that inside it and it is used by Iranair personnel only,. But I think it there is no problem if somebody take a photo from the gate by mobile phone. unfortunately I rarely go to this areaم‍انفی

Problem with sound files at کارل نیلسن

Hello, only one sound file is showing at کارل نیلسن but there should be three of them. This problem also occurred at that page before my edit, and may indicate that Template:Listen on this wiki needs to be updated. Can someone please look into this? Persian vs. Farsi

The two words are discussed in a number of places higher on this page.
I know a number of Iranians here in Toronto. In Toronto, I hear "Farsi" for the language more often than I hear "Persian".
And the dictionary I am using to translate my page is called "Farsi-English".

• first of all I have to thank u for being concerned in persian.yes,we persians say farsi to persian ,but it's only used among the locals and the language is internationally known as persian.second:Just becuz the board is empty it doesn't mean that our language isn't popular.there r ppl learning persian every day ,but their knowledge might not be that complete to edit persian articles,or even if they do,they might not run in to any pbs so they wouldn't need to leave a massage here.As u can c, the number of articles here show that the persian wiki was and is very active throughout the years.regards

On the English Wikipedia there is a person who argues that Islamists certainly were the party who set the Cinema Rex on fire. It hasn't received much attention on EN, so I would like to ask about it here: From en:Talk:Cinema_Rex_fire#I_have_put_FIVE_independant_trustworthy_sources_that_proves_that_the_Islamists_were_behind_it It looks like there are groups of people who are trying to say that Islamists are certainly behind the Cinema Rex fire. Is this really true? In Satrapi's book she says that "everyone knew" the Shah did it, and it was a book published in the 2000s. I visited this page and decided to upload the "Flag of Persians" on the bottom of the page. However, I am not decided about its wiki name. Infobox synching with the English Wikipedia

Hello, a subject-matter expert has just made some tweaks to the English Wikipedia article about ادوارد جنر (Edward Jenner), and I'm trying to propogate them to other language versions of Wikipedia. The most important of these is that his middle name is not Anthony, but there are others, as shown in this diff. Could somebody help me implement them? I've removed the false middle name in English, but I'd have great difficulty doing the other changes because my screen reader does not support the Arabic alphabet (the support is even worse than it was now when I made my previous query). Duplicate cities in Spain

Requesting help in reducing spam from (probable) persian wikipedian

Hi, Please refer Wikidata:Wikidata:Administrators'_noticeboard/Archive/2015/03 discussion and :meta:Vandalism_reports/Archive_7 some one from Iraninan IPs is has been persistent in global push of personal promotion spamming across various language wikipedias. Issue seems to be still around as late as today en wikipedians are discussing the same issue here once more. Can some senior persian wikipedian help explain gentelman using those ips and user ids that personal promotion spamming is not held in good spirit in encyclopedias. Secondly admins from various wikipedias can start banning certain more activites to stop the spam but in long run this may hurt interest of other persian language wikipedians to some extant or at large, there by interst of persian language and people get hurt for nothing. At times encyclopedists wont accept certain aspects some one wants, that does not mean spamming is a good thing. Rather if, the gentelman concentrates on constructive work with the same amount of effort and time he can help persian wikipedia and knowledge to grow. So can some one help to put across this message across the concerned ip or user and help global and persian wikipedian community please.

WikiScienceCompetition 2017

Hi! Wiki Science Competition has started, sitenotices have appeared for sure in Spain, Austria, Russian Federation, USA and Ukraine, and Italy will be join very soon with a massive national campaign.

As a member of the academic committee I did my best to reduce the gap between countries both in the composition of the juries and now in the outreach. I did inform many platforms (enwiki, eswiki, frwiki) during the preparation of the event, now I am informing all national institutions, associations and federations of science and technology I can contact, especially those located in countries without national juries (including yours), I am posting notes on LinkedIn groups everyday, and I am contacting national chapters and user groups.. and so on. That's why I am here.

We prepared banners for many countries but on meta they say it is not wise to use them all, so if you want to use the style and do one here on your wiki for few days, just let us know. In your case the banner is not country-specific so it is generic.

Hi, FAwiki! The publication en:Akhtar (magazine) is supposed to have copies of the en:Ottoman constitution of 1876 beginning on 17 January 1877. There are versions on the Wikimedia Commons and on other sites. The constitution is known in Ottoman Turkish as "Kanûn-u Esâsî" (قانون اساسى‎) and the Persian version was modeled after the original Ottoman Turkish version. If someone finds the Persian version, I would really appreciate it!

Confirming Dari name of Morsal Obeidi?

Hi! At en:Morsal Obeidi a name in Arabic script was originally marked as Pashto, but I changed it to Dari as Mazar i Sharif is a majority Dari speaking city and no evidence was presented saying Morsal was Pashtun. I would like FAwiki editors to check if the spelling of her name is correct in Dari.

A Mosque in Kermanshah

Hey everyone, I am working on a 19th century person biography in ArWiki, he who lived his most life in Qajar Iran, in Kermanshah and Yazd. I mean Ahmad al-Ahsa'i. It seems a Mosque built for his affaris in Kermanshah by the governor M.A. Dowlatshah, the mosque named after him, but when i searched in FaWiki, I found few articles about the mosque, 01 and 02 and 03. Is the one mosque with three entires here?! Or i am wrong? I guess the Mosque converted to a Madrassah/Hawza. or better to say, it was from establishment a Mosque - Madrassah, like the famous Al-Azhar, or Chaharbagh of Isfahah.

Below is background information about the tools, why we have chosen to enable them in your Wikipedia and how you. can test the Section translation tool

Background information

Content Translation has been a successful tool for editors to create content in their language. More than one million articles have been created across all languages since the tool was released in 2015 and in Persian Wikipedia, editors have used it to create more than thirty five thousand articles. However, the tool is not out of beta in Persian Wikipedia, limiting the discoverability of the tool and its use and blocking the enablement of the Section translation in your Wikipedia

Section Translation extends the capabilities of Content Translation to support mobile devices. On mobile, the tool will:

• Guide you to translate one section at a time in order to expand existing articles or create new ones
• Make it easy to transfer knowledge across languages anytime from your mobile device

Persian Wikipedia seems an ideal candidate to enjoy this new tool based on request by a member of the community. We plan to enable the tools on Persian Wikipedia in the coming week if there are no objections from your community After it is enabled, we’ll monitor the content created with the tools and process all the feedback. In any case, feel free to raise any concerns or questions you may already have as a reply to this message or on the project talk page

Try the Section translation tool

Before the enablement, you can try the current implementation of the tool in our testing instance. Once it is enabled on Persian Wikipedia, you’ll have access to https://fa.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:ContentTranslation with your mobile device. You can select an article to translate, and machine translation will be provided as a starting point for editors to improve.

MinT Machine Translation added to your Wikipedia

The WMF Language team has added another machine translation (MT) system for Content Translation in your Wikipedia called MinT; you can use MinT machine translation when translating Wikipedia articles using the Content and Section Translation tool.

The WMF Language team provides the MinT service. It is hosted in the Wikimedia Foundation Infrastructure with neural machine translation models that other organizations have released with an open-source license. MinT integrates translation based on NLLB-200, OpusMT, IndicTrans2 and Softcatalà. This MT is set as optional in your Wikipedia. Still, you can choose not to use it by selecting "Start with empty paragraph" from the "Initial Translation" dropdown menu.

Since MinT is hosted in the WMF Infrastructure and the models are open source, it adheres to Wikipedia's policies about attribution of rights, your privacy as a user and brand representation. You can find more information about the MinT machine translation and the models on this page.

Please note that the use of the MinT MT is not compulsory. However, we would want your community to:

• use it to improve the quality of the Machine Translation service
• provide feedback about its quality, and if you prefer the MinT machine translation as default in your Wikipedia.

We trust that introducing this MT is a good support to the Content Translation tool.
