The Graphics Lab is a project to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. Requests for image improvements can be added to the workshop pages: Illustrations, Photographs and Maps. For questions or suggestions one can use the talk pages: Talk:Graphics Lab, Talk:Illustrations, Talk:Photographs and Talk:Maps.
This specific page is the requests page for the illustration workshop. Anyone can make a request for an illustration to be improved or created for a Wikipedia article. Clicking the "New Request" button will bring you to a standard template for submitting requests, as well as general advice that should be followed.

    Advice to requesters

    All requests:

    • Please make sure your request is "legitimate" by copyright. If the image(s) are in the public domain or freely licensed, you are fine. If the image(s) are "Fair use", there are only certain things we can do with them without falling afoul of Wikipedia's fair-use policies.
      • If you are requesting assistance with a copyright or fair-use image, don't display it on this page; place {{GLNF|Example.png|caption|align=left}} to create a link to it. Do not add the File: extension. Our fair-use policy does not allow displaying fair-use images out of their articles on ANY account.
    • Please check back regularly to see if progress has been made or if any additional questions need to be answered before the request can be completed.
    • If a request is done to your satisfaction, please mark it with {{resolved}}.

    SVG requests:

    • Make sure your request can actually BE vectorized. Note that vector drawings are not suitable for certain applications. We generally use SVG format for icons, logos, drawings, maps, flags, and such. Certain things, photographs especially, are totally impossible to vectorize.
    • Per our non-free content policy, vectorization of copyrighted images is not permitted. If a vectorized non-free image is desired, seek out such an image from the copyright holder.

As seen in this article, a red banner with yellow stars placed to form a swastika. I believe this qualifies as notable. Fry1989 eh? 16:35, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Done You might want to fiddle with positioning a bit, I was seeing spinning stars by the time this was done. Some of the gaps don't look quite even when you squint, but it's geometrically pretty close - the reason some gaps around the big star look a bit different is that it's four "spokes" round a five-pointed star... I don't know what the black "scribble" or marking bottom right of the banner is in the AFP pic so I left it out. Also needs some categories. Cheers. -- Begoon 02:02, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    That's great, thanks. Fry1989 eh? 17:25, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Baker Street bank robbery

There is an 'infographic' diagram at the top of File:Diagram showing the tunnel into Lloyds bank, 1971.png and a different one at http://robslondon.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Tunnel.jpg (present on the page https://robslondon.com/london-true-crime-the-baker-street-robbery/) which I'd like to get our own version of, if possible. The image from crimemagazine.com shows the street as it was in 1971, with the right shop names etc.

If we could get a simplified line drawing showing the outline of the building, position of tunnel and relevant labels, that would be great. Cheers – SchroCat (talk) 12:11, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Error corrections

    Article(s)
    en:Nassau-class battleship
    Request
The image has incorrect figures; the creator seems to have conflated different parts of the ship's protection system (the relevant section in the article has details available - the creator used the main deck thicknesses from the bow/stern for what purports to be the amidships section, it uses the belt thickness abreast the turrets for, again, what purports to be the section abreast the machinery spaces, and the forecastle deck is just wrong [I have no idea where that figure comes from]). Long story short, the blue "45 mm" should be "20–30 mm", the blue "55 mm" should be "38 mm", the blue "80 mm" should be "58 mm", and the red "290 mm" should be "300 mm".
And as something of a secondary request, it'd be nice if the whitespace (particularly at the top) could be reduced. Parsecboy (talk) 12:43, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please fix the two coats of arms shown here. The shields are in particular need of it. The vertical red and white stripes in both are of different widths even though they're both based on the national flag and are all the same height in that (the stripes are horizontal in the flag). Any other improvements in the files to make them look better and more accurate based on the images that were vectorized. Thanks in advance. -- 109.78.188.41 (talk) 23:11, 13 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Irregular moon diagrams (more than a decade old!).

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:TheIrregulars.svg and related (see also the Irregular moons page as well as the pages on the Himalia group, Ananke group, Carme group, Pasiphae group)

These diagrams comparing the eccentricity and inclination for the outer irregular satellites of the planets are over a decade old (!), and it seems the original author has disappeared. I'd like to request that these diagrams be updated with new discoveries and orbital refinements that have occurred since then. ― Дрейгорич / Dreigorich Talk 22:50, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Don't forget this too. SpinnerLaserz (talk) 04:58, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean - don't forget? It was not in your request, and my telepathy chip is in for a service.
    • Tell me - how is it that you can create those svg files yourself, but you can't drop in a white layer/mask? I'm confused... (If you didn't create them yourself, then I can't see a source - the files only seem to reference bitmap versions.) -- Begoon 06:53, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
      • I credited the artists and I did not know how to add a white layer myself. SpinnerLaserz (talk) 13:14, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
        • Ok. Well all you need to do is create a white shape bigger than the "hole" and use Object - Lower, Send backward or similar, (depending on software) until it is behind whatever it needs to be. For instance, in the second one I just created a white square bigger than the circle and smaller than the red square, then "lowered" it behind the red square and 'landmass'. I could alternatively have used a full size white rectangle at the very back. You can also use layers for this, and I usually do - but you don't have to - it will work in one layer if the object order is correct. -- Begoon 13:26, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
