Merge with Česká Zbrojovka Uherský Brod[edit]

Česká Zbrojovka Uherský Brod was a different factory than the plant in Strakonice. I believe they were both the same company but the Uhersky Brod facility produced guns. The Strakonice plant is where the CZ motorcycles were manufactured. Gun enthusiasts will associate the Uhersky Brod brand with guns.Orsoni 06:19, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Zbrojovka means "armament factory" in Czech language. Originally the factory in Strakonice produced armament. Before WWII part of the production was moved inland to the Uherský Brod (Strakonice is closer to the border with Germany). After the war the factories were organisationally separated but kept the old names. Since 1934 the factory in Strakonice produced motorcycles and this became their main product; armament production had ceased in 1946. During botched up attempt of privatisation in early 1990s the company almost bankrupted but somehow managed to survive and produces engineering parts. A small company CZ Strojirna s.r.o. producing pistols claims to be sucessor of the original armament factory in Strakonice. They have exactly 1 page on the web so it's hard to say details. Yet another different Zbrojovka company [23] in Brno produced arms and tractors is now bankrupt. Another company named Zbrojovka is in Vsetín [24]. • I do not support merge, as the factories in Strakonice and Uherský Brod were separated and produced different goods. Jirka.h23 (talk) 06:19, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Split Page[edit]

I propose a split. This page should be about the Česká zbrojovka Strakonice plant. It needs a section on firearms and one on motorcycles and this probably isn't best done on one page. Suggest: Česká zbrojovka Strakonice (firearms), and Česká zbrojovka Strakonice (motorcycles). BBODO (talk) 23:04, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I do not support split, as this is still the Strakonice plant, firearms productions was for quite a short time period, but production of motorcycles took place for the most of the 20th century. Though, it's still the same factory. Jirka.h23 (talk) 06:19, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
