Edits addressing notability concern[edit]

Hi @Onel5969, I felt that the original sources were indicative of notability, but I added additional information to the draft about Yakubu's education, academic journals that published his work and participation in professional organizations.

  • A profile in Science, backed by the American Association for the Advancement of Science is a big deal
  • An obituary in the National Association of Mathematicians seems to point to notability
  • an academic journal issue dedicated to his memory is not seen often, but I think is indicative of his impact and notability in the community

Happy to get your thoughts on this. Brianda (Wiki Ed) (talk) 00:04, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As always, always a pleasure. This is one of those cases where delving in reveals more detail. As part of my review process, if there is not enough in-depth coverage (which is not unusual for academics), I click the "Scholar" link in the notability tag, which gave me this result, now there is one article in that result, of which he is one of several co-authors, with a decent citation count. But only the one. However, it did not give me his Scholar profile, which I did not see at the bottom of the article. That gives him an h-Index of 28, which is okay, but not great. That being said, if I had not missed that, I would have pinged my go-to editor on academic subjects, David Eppstein for their opinion. I would personally lean towards the notable enough side in this instance. But I would love to hear David Eppstein's opinion. Onel5969 TT me 00:36, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
