Neutrality[edit]

This article describes all the different ways the word "beur" is used, but this almost seems to condone its use. I think there should be more focus on the fact that it is a derogatory term. Mr. Stradivarius 20:21, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but it's not, it's actually used by the younger generations of Arabs to refer to themselves (if you actually read the one ref). When the French won the 1998 World Cup, everyone from TV journalists to respectable newspapers spoke about the "black, blanc, beur" team (black/white/arab) as a parody of the traditional "bleu, blanc, rouge" of the French flag. So I will remove the neutrality tag and try to find some refs about French backslang (verlan). CaptainScreebo Parley! 22:22, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Captain_Screebo, you are not well informed - just read for example the Wikipedia article... in French! A good idea would be indeed to look at the original French wikipedia article, in odder to improve the English article. Ad the enutrality tag then does make some sense... (I do not have time to do Wikipedia contributions myself, sorry.)--88.71.76.221 (talk) 23:02, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
