Proposed merge.[edit]

I oppose the proposed merge of Calum and Callum; there are a large number of links on each page, and I think that merging them would make too big a page. bd2412 T 02:42, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Since the proposed did not start a discussion, I'm going to remove the merger tag. Qwyrxian (talk) 01:30, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

callum commemorates the latin name columba?[edit]

is it not more likely that it's the Scottish rendering of Colm (cille) considering it's pronounced the same way but with an a rather than an o? 77.101.254.90 (talk) 17:45, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This article has the spelling backwards[edit]

"Calum" is the correct spelling. The article rightly states that this is a Scottish Gaelic name. "Callum" is the anglicised or corrupted version, yet the article is written in a way which suggests this is the proper way to spell it, and that "Calum" is an alternative. I suspect the persistent 'vandalism' is people repeatedly correcting this error. Callum may be a more popular spelling in the English speaking world, but that doesn't make it correct. I would suggest a re-write of the article making this clear. 2A02:C7C:C835:AE00:A5E7:B4BA:44E6:CE70 (talk) 21:17, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
