Claims of Ugandan nationality[edit]

I have removed the following categories from this biographical article: LGBT people from Uganda, LGBT rights activists from Uganda, Ugandan people of British descent, and Ugandan expatriates in the United Kingdom. Firstly, no proof is given that Mr. Cecil is a Ugandan citizen. He appears to have been born in the UK, having spent his formative years there, and his self-stated employment record suggests the first year he obtained continuous employment in Uganda was 2008. Ugandan naturalisation law requires at least ten years of permanent residency before an application for citizenship may be made.

Secondly, there would be no legal precedent for deporting Cecil to the UK if he really holds a Ugandan passport, either by birth or naturalisation, particularly since Ugandan law discourages dual citizenship.

I believe Cecil was probably born in the UK, and resided as an expat filmmaker in Uganda from 2008 to 2013, when he was deported. If somebody else has found a source to back up the claims that Cecil was in fact a Ugandan, please make a note of that as and when this information is added to the article. --Katangais (talk) 21:09, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
