James Avery[edit]

All the news sources are reporting that he died in Los Angeles on New Years Eve. 108.14.255.165 (talk) 19:08, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's "underwent surgery on New Years Eve, then died New Years Day". Rusted AutoParts 19:21, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
See [1], [2], [3]. 108.14.255.165 (talk) 19:25, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm also under the impression he died today. EvergreenFir (talk) 21:40, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Reuters cites TMZ as saying it was Tuesday. [4] CNN says Tuesday. [5] The L.A. Times says "Tuesday night", which I suppose could be taken either way. [6] --Alexbook (talk) 21:59, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Reliable sources are resoundingly reporting that Avery died December 31, 2013. Earlier reports confirmed his death, but many did not state when death occurred. I'm not going to include a bunch of sources here; now, as it is readily available for the most novice researcher to discover. The gambler in me would wager that 12/31/2013 is going to stand as correct, because it appears to also be truthful. By the way, Tuesday night became Wednesday morning at 12:00:01, so I think it is safe to assume reliable sources with good editorial oversight deliberately meant what they said. Notwithstanding the several reliable sources that define the death as having occurred on December 31, 2013. Cheers.—John Cline (talk) 22:14, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please review your information, without reference to his article in English Wikipedia. The following links cast into doubt the validity of the stated death date of January 2nd 2014. They indicate that the death date may be December 31st 2013, and therefore not to be displayed on this page at all.

http://www.artsjournal.com/rifftides/2014/01/farewell-al-porcino.html is a factual source (albeit a blog) which states date of death as December 31st 2013.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocvOxFbA8Qo is a YouTube tribute video which also quotes December 31st 2013 as death date.

Although neither can be seen as reliable sources on their own, they do indicate that there may be a serious question to be answered here, and then hopefully applied to the information contained within the article for Al Porcino, if a correction is required.

Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 07:37, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. This reliable source also goes with 31 December. Further research necessary. WWGB (talk) 10:44, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Avonte Oquendo[edit]

This boy's story, his disappearance and death, are noticeably absent in Wikipedia - as an article about the boy, as a current event, as a death (or discovery of remains) in 2014. Why? --68.194.251.241 (talk) 00:15, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The boy himself isn't notable enough to list here. The circumstances of his death or "his story" might be enough for an article, but not here. — Wyliepedia 00:27, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
✔ Completely agree. Wikipedia is not a newspaper. Ref (chew)(do) 14:41, 31 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

He fell from the 22nd floor to the 4th floor of the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok where he was to attend a meeting of Tata Motors Thailand.[1] Does not sound like "self-defenestration" to me. Any thoughts ?

You left out the rest. The police believe it was suicide. — Wyliepedia 02:01, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done Seems notable enough. Will link to Greater_Flamingo#Lifespan for now, but could be removed if someone challenges notability. EvergreenFir (talk) 19:46, 31 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
