Time span of published works[edit]

It has occured to me that Asimov was a God amongst mere authors (the only God of Humanism), as he was able to write for a grand total 82 years, in a physical lifespan of only 72 years... What a guy! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.169.61.43 (talk) 06:05, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly because some of the books were published posthumously, as collections of his previously unpublished stories. --Random wikipedia user — Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.136.191.193 (talk) 04:54, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've recently got around to creating the article thereon, so feel more than free to contribute thereto... DrWho42 03:27, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Clean up[edit]

I'm starting to overhaul I've overhauled the page to properly list the books it shouldn't go blah blah blah, the but the blah blah blah and still have it under B. I've also started removing red links and the like. Imasleepviking ( talk ) 20:00, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Organization[edit]

This should be organized by date, not by title. Also, short story publications in magazines ought to be listed separately, if possible. john k (talk) 17:58, 17 August 2008 (UTC). Or at least the year should be mentioned somewhere on this page. Raly (talk) 20:50, 12 July 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Complete?[edit]

This is believed to be a complete bibliography of the work of Isaac Asimov...

I own a book that wasn't on this list previously. I have also seen for sale on eBay another title not listed here with a photo of the book clearly showing Isaac Asimov as one of the editors. The word "complete" should be removed from the article. I also count 523 titles on the page now, not 515. Maybe it should say "over 500"?

  • If you know there is working missing, add it or at least name it. JeepdaySock (AKA, Jeepday) 16:49, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Statistics[edit]

I think that in introdaction can be write a short analysis of his bibliography. On exemple author can wrote how many books he wrote on science fiction, popular science, some statistic.--Vojvodaeist 17:08, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Writing in the Womb[edit]

"The total number of books listed here is 515 books in 72 years." - but he only lived to be 72, are we to understand that he got some of his writing done in the first 10 or 15 years of his life? It might make more sense to limit it to the span of his career, which would be 53 years (ages 19 to 72). AshcroftIleum (talk) 02:16, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Robbie[edit]

It's not a book but a short story 64.229.135.173 (talk) 01:14, 16 May 2009 (UTC) Not all short stories are listed individually. 64.229.135.173 (talk) 01:19, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There should either be an explanation of the criteria for inclusion, or a cleanup. I checked, and "Robbie" is indeed there - but as noted above, is a short story (within "I, Robot"), and not a book in its own right. Similarly, "Belief" is another short - included within "The Alternate Asimovs". --Redrose64 (talk) 22:01, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Same with many others. Cal, for example. On the other hand, I, Robot isn't in the list!!!! --Againme (talk) 19:46, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Robbie, Cal, Sally and some other short stories were published as stand-alone books, so it's correct that they're in this list. However, this doesn't apply to Belief, The Dead Past, Kid Brother, The Last Answer, The Last Question and Mother Earth, so I removed them. --Darkday (talk) 16:46, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Azazel[edit]

Why is Azazel in this list. It clearly is a character, not a book.--Narayan (talk) 12:45, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is both the name of the character and the name of a book. --Pmsyyz (talk) 13:53, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Child Of Time[edit]

Should this list include books such as 'Child Of Time', which was written by both Isaac Asimov and Robert Silverberg? I notice it is not on here, but it is certainly one of his works as it's co-authored by him and a full novel version of 'The Ugly Little Boy'. I have taken the liberty of adding it, if people feel this is incorrect, feel free to remove it. 120.89.83.254 (talk) 13:01, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I also took the liberty of adding several other books that I have that are not on here. 120.89.83.254 (talk) 13:41, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Difficulty[edit]

Especially when taking Asimov's many collaborations into account, it is an incredibly daunting task to try to list "all" of his books. I think "believed to be complete" (by whom?) is a comically inaccurate remark, certainly not verifiable, and I am about to remove it. But I do appreciate the combined efforts of all who have tried to get this done. This page will continue to be revised for a long time. Paul (talk) 18:32, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Asimov as editor[edit]

I notice that there are several books here, such as the Mammoth collections, which Asimov edited rather than wrote - I have no issue with them being included here, but should there not be some note, such as "(editor)", after these titles? Euchrid (talk) 23:05, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A Whiff of Death[edit]

Murder at the ABA also appears on this list under its other title Authorised Murder (with a note in brackets about the variant title. I suggest that we should do the same for The Death Dealers / A Whiff of Death. Richard75 (talk) 00:30, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not a big fan of this, because I think it can be misleading to list the same book multiple times. But since it's already being done for Authorised Murder and Child of Time I guess it's okay. Darkday (talk) 18:06, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If we do it clearly then we can avoid being misleading. Richard75 (talk) 19:23, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Criteria for inclusion[edit]

This is a list of books, but several short stories were included. I have taken them out, but I might have missed some. (I have left in The Heavenly Host because it is a chapter book as well as a short story.) Richard75 (talk) 14:00, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The entries you've removed are all chapter books, just like "The Heavenly Host". I agree with the removal of "Youth" though, since all "Youth" chapter books (there are several) are unofficial publications. Darkday (talk) 19:06, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I've reinstated them. Richard75 (talk) 21:13, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
