Quick suggestion[edit]

I was just thinking that even though this program is going to have a 160 episode season (plus last year's episodes), that a lot of the comedians will appear frequently throughout the year, such as Thomas Lennon. I was just wondering if it would be best to not keep on linking the same names all the time and perhaps only link when they are on the first time. I know that there are certain comedians who do not have Wikipedia entries, but i just thought that it would be better not to over link, like I have seen on other pages. So if Thomas Lennon appears 10 times in 2014, only the first instance of his name would be linked. I hope I made sense. Just offering a suggestion. Feel free to comment.184.160.203.195 (talk) 20:47, 18 January 2014 (UTC)samusek2[reply]

While a good idea, you'll then have users coming in and editing in all the links that would then be undone and then you'll run the risk of edit wars. So I think I'm neither for or against this idea, we just need to decide the issue now while it's still early on. Maybe a good middle ground is link the first appearance of each month?Encmetalhead (talk) 23:56, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Upcoming Guests[edit]

Please keep the upcoming guests hidden and in the format as I have had them as bookings are prone to changing (even last minute) and the section was completely unsourced where as if it's hidden until the episode airs there will be no need for a source. Encmetalhead (talk) 21:28, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You concerns have been addressed. I included a reference to these listings, and made it clear that the schedule is subject to change. Grapesoda22 (talk) 22:13, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I still feel it should stay hidden in the format I had it as it is easier to edit each day as new episodes air. Until someone else chimes in I suggest we keep it on my format then once a majority decision is chosen we will use that going forward. Sound fair? Encmetalhead (talk) 22:17, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You know waht I don't care what you do anymore sorry I tried to fucking help Grapesoda22 (talk) 22:39, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
While the help is appreciated, if it hinders the article's credibility it's not really help. Encmetalhead (talk) 22:46, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for all the issues and my response. Grapesoda22 (talk) 23:45, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No problem! I'm a bit stubborn sometimes which was why I presented the idea of letting others say which format they liked the best and and we roll with that one! Democracy at it's best! Encmetalhead (talk) 01:36, 13 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting the years into separate articles[edit]

Should we go the route of The Daily Show and have articles for the episodes of each year? That would also open up room into this article to place the statistics here and remove them from the main article thus shortening that article up as well. Encmetalhead (talk) 20:48, 27 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this here?[edit]

This article links to a main article with the same information. It should redirect to the main article linked instead of being its own article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.85.113.197 (talk) 09:15, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is the archival page that will link to each each's main article so it won't be so cluttered as it airs over 100 episodes a year. Encmetalhead (talk) 01:51, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Upcoming guests revisited discussion[edit]

Several months ago I posted a separate table on this page made for future gusts in upcoming episodes. Encmetalhead contested this and we had a minor discussion resulting in me backing down and having the table be omitted. The notation recently resurfaced in a different format by another user. I then opted to clean it up, which was again reverted by Encmetalhead but then defended by another user. I think we can take another look at this and have another discussion. Grapesoda22 (talk) 20:24, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

With the new format of the articles (The Daily Show format) I feel even more strongly against it. The format we had worked well with the unaired episodes hidden but still in the table so all it takes is a quick edit to moved the contestants into the right spot and move the <-- in front of the next unaired day. I'm up for a compromise since we have a new system (future guests in the old system (hidden) and a new visible table but only the aired episodes i the onlyinclude tag) but we had a nice system that was easy and quick and I'm not sure why there is such a need to "fix" it? Encmetalhead (talk) 20:47, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I also suggested we limit the upcoming guests table to only feature the currently airing week or the nearest week to air, to keep it shorter and easier to maintain, and more consistently accurate. Grapesoda22 (talk) 21:22, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
As long as the upcoming guests isn't shown on this page and only on the yearly page I could live with that. That way if a user really wanted the info it's there just deeper in the click tree. Encmetalhead (talk) 22:45, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No it should be visible. Thats the whole point of the table. I never said you have to stop hiding future guests on archived episode tables, if its easier from an editor's perspective to list all the guests and hide them until after the winners are determined by all means do so. I wanted a second table to help an average non-editing reader find out who will be on upcoming episodes conveniently without hassle. There is no reason the future guests can't be listed in advanced and hidden on the main table, and also listed on a convenient visible table as well. Grapesoda22 (talk) 00:33, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
We just proposed the same thing (remember there are 3 episode list articles now, this is the main one where only aired episodes should be shown and the 2015 article should have episodes aired and upcoming guests) haha Encmetalhead (talk) 02:48, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well obliviously the future episodes are applicable on both the main page and the 2015 page so it should be transcluded along with the current month to the main page, the upcoming table would follow the latest month by default. If we are limiting the feature episodes come December 2015 we will only list upcoming episodes though the end of the year and immediately create a 2016 list with the transcluded table. Grapesoda22 (talk) 21:50, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think future episodes should be visible. Wikipedia shouldn't be used for marketing/advertising.67.167.10.64 (talk) 21:47, 16 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
