Schools List[edit]

Lists are a good source of information. However they may be dated and can sometimes be replaced by categories. Victuallers 09:19, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sean Carmichael[edit]

Current elected Member of the NSW Liberal Party for the Bellevue Hill Ward of the Woollahra Local Council. Is this a long winded way of saying "Local Alderman" and if so when ? "Current" is meaningless -Sticks66 12:37, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion criteria and cleanup[edit]

This article has been tagged with {{Alumni}} since August 2007, which is not really a good thing. Either that tag is no longer needed or there is still cleanup needed. Most of the entries on the list to appear to have their own stand-alone articles, and this is pretty much the most basic inclusion criterion per WP:CSC. Many entries without articles, however, are supported by citations, but ideally these people should be someone (per WP:REDYES) about who a stand-alone Wikipedia article could reasonably be expected to be written. A list of alumni should not simply be a recreation of the alumni section found on a school's website; it should really be for only Wikipedia notable persons.

The first thing to clean up should be to remove any person which doesn't have a Wikipedia article written about them and for which no supporting citation is provided. The next thing to do would be to assess those without articles but which have citations. Anything cited to the school's website, a PR website, or some other type of WP:UGC should be removed right of the bat and the rest should be assessed to see if they're really strong candidates for a stand-alone article. In the latter case, when Wikipedia notability is pretty clear, it might be a good idea to even create a WP:STUB to avoid adding to many red links to the page. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:37, 13 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This discussion should probably be at the main page where the page is proposed to be merged (the tag links there, not here). Anyway, I'd suggest that you don't just remove anyone without a Wikipedia page but actually do an assessment of whether there are reliable sources. E.g. the Supreme Court/Federal Court judges and ex-Wallaby are probably notable even though there are no articles about them, the local councillor is probably not. I suspect there will still be too many names on this list to merge into the parent article. Secondly, the school's website is probably a reliable source that they went there, but agree it's not a RS for their notability. Bookscale (talk) 11:33, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There was no ongoing discussion about the merge on the main article's talk page, and this is not specifically about whether the article should be merged; so, I added it here. I have no problem with it being Template:Moved to that talk page though if that's where it should be. In addition, if any of the individual entries I removed are for people where it's reasonable to assume WP:REDYES applies, then feel free to re-add them. Ideally, it probably should be WP:WTAF (even if it's just a stub), but a red-link supported by a reliable source seems OK if the source at least meets a sort of WP:NEXIST standard. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:20, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Closed the merge proposal, given that the discussion is stale, there were no statements of support, and the list is still long post-cleanup. Klbrain (talk) 08:20, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese Emperor’s Grandson[edit]

A grandson of one of the later Japanese emperors boarded here around the time Japan adopted a constitutional government, reforming the previous imperial government. I’ll keep this updated if I can get any additional info. Hunstagamez (talk) 13:59, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
