As far as any other name, PJ Boyer does mention another name in one place, but doesn't detail when that was in use etc. Since all the sources otherwise just use Mac, I guess maybe there was a name change at some point, but since that's not clearly documented in the present references and so it doesn't seem supportable here, right? Although the article identified the subject as Mahmoud "Mac" Harb, and that was supported by a source, The subject is mentioned in many hundreds, perhaps many thousands of references. All of the ones I have reviewed use Mac Harb rather than Mahmoud "Mac" Harb (Except of course for this article and mirrors).
Wikimedia has been contacted by the subject who asserts his name is Mac Harb. While we rely on reliable sources as opposed to the personal wishes of the subject, given the paucity of sources supporting the alternative name I have changed the name back to Mac Harb. While we would often accept a single source as a reference for a piece of information, in this case given that the subject's name is used in many, many publications, we need more evidence than a single document.--S Philbrick(Talk) 15:55, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Specifically Wikipedia includes full names and dates of birth that have been widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object. First, two, not one independent sources of the full (or original) name were provided: Patrick Boyer's book "Our Scandalous Senate." and an official police Information to Obtain, filed with the court. Second, while the subject may commonly be called "Mac", and "Mac" may even be his current legal name (though we have no evidence of that), I would note that "Mac" is not a name that someone would be called at birth in Lebanon, though it is short for Mahmoud and related variant spellings of that name. Third, I note that Mr Harb himself does not deny that was his given name at birth, and asserts only (without any documentary evidence) that it is not his current name. Finally, contrary to the statement by user 331dot, it is not my intent to specify the full name as the article title. It is, however, common to specify the full, rather than the common, name of public figures in the first line of the entry. The examples you have provided (Barack Obama, Bill Clinton -- I would add Robert "Bobby" Orr) demonstrate this. In fact, the entry for Bill Clinton informs the reader in the first line that his current name is not his birth name, which is relevant to this entry. I have therefore left the name Mac Harb as the article title and instead added the documented name Mahmoud separately, which I think best captures the record as we know it.
