CIRI[edit]

I notice the City of Calgary's traffic station CIRI wasn't listed so I added it. It's a redlink right now but I wonder if it would qualify for an article since it is only receivable within Calgary? 23skidoo 20:36, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would bemore concerned about whether this article could ever grow beyond a stub. What really needs to be said about it other than "traffic information operated by the City of Calgary"? Personaly, I would just remove the red link. Everything that can be said you have already added to this list. Resolute 20:51, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Not all articles have to be lengthy and detailed. And there is more to say about CIRI, for example why it was created -- obviously in response to the fact Calgary is going through construction hell for the next 5 years. Plus it is also interesting that the woman heard reading out all the traffic information isn't a woman at all, but rather a computerized voice. I do not believe stub-length articles that stay that long are any problem at all -- as long as they have sufficient information. However the current criteria for broadcasters as I understand it is they must be either in a major metropolitan area (and Calgary @ 1 million counts, no?) or be receivable beyond their home base (which CIRI to my knowledge is not). 23skidoo 21:48, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

At what point would it be appropriate to merge the newspaper list with the larger list of media outlets in Calgary? Can I go ahead and do this now as it was proposed a few weeks ago? Mark 01:28, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No-one seems to mind, so please do. --Qyd 02:00, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Missing newspapers[edit]

What about the proliferation of free daily newspapers in Calgary in 2007? None are listed here. I refer to 24 Hours, Metro and there's one more I believe. 68.146.41.232 19:08, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Since no one else has added them I've done so, along with, for good measure, the three college newspapers that are circulated throughout the city, and I tossed in the widely circlated Kerby News for good measure since it's as widely available as BeatRoute. 68.146.41.232 (talk) 18:55, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of POV[edit]

The description of the two dailies was unacceptable as it had too much POV and tried to make one paper look better than the other. Also, I have no idea why some people try to come up with new, awkward words for defined terminology. A tabloid is a tabloid. Calling the Sun a "compact format" (per an earlier edit I just changed) makes it sound like a newspaper in miniature. 68.146.81.123 (talk) 16:55, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
