Merger proposal[edit]

I propose that List of Thailand representatives at Miss Universe be merged into this article. These two pages cover exactly the same topic--by definition, those women who win at the competition "Miss Thailand Universe" are the women who "represent Thailand at the Miss Universe competition" (unless there were cases where a runner-up filled in, which we can note). This article appears to be the correct name (as the more general topic), so this seems like the one to keep. We would move over the 1954-199 representatives who are not currently listed here. If we want, we can use the more colorful format of the other table here; I have no real preference. Qwyrxian (talk) 01:44, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Support. List already exists at Miss Thailand, they just stopped sending representatives in 1999 and this new organization Miss Thailand Universe took over in 2000. Add them to the Miss Thailand Universe article if it's more convenient for the reader, or add a link to Miss Thailand titleholders if the reader wants to see representatives prior to 1999.--John KB (talk) 02:05, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I see you've opened up an RM to also merge in List of Thaland representatives at Miss Earth. Do you, by any chance, have a reliable source (even the official webpage will probably do) that says that the runners up on this competition go to Miss Earth? Yeah, there are, but have to add them. These beauty pageant articles are very neglected, and lots of sources are needed. Need an extra pair of hands. But that's common knowledge in beauty pageant forums, the first runner-up from Miss Thailand Universe goes to Miss Earth. See Piyaporn Deejing for reference, she was Vice-Miss Thailand Universe 2008 and competed in Miss Earth 2008. --John KB (talk) 08:56, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's been about 2 weeks since this discussion was opened without any opposition, so I think we can proceed with the merge. John KB, do you think you can handle it? This is not really a topic I know much about, nor am so enthusiastic about, so I'd be really excited if you could handle it. If you haven't done a merge before, I can talk you through it or you can find details at Help:Merging#Selective paste merger--there's some important steps that have to be followed in order to preserve the attribution requirements built into Wikipedia's CC-BY-SA license. Change Broadcast from Bangkok Broadcasting & T.V. Co., Ltd (Channel 7). to Royal Thai Army Radio and Television Channel 5
