Please present a modicum of a case for WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. I browsed the first two pages of a Google Books search for "Parnell" and while the proposed meaning is common, it doesn't seem to be primary. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 12:02, 13 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Charles Stewart Parnell is a major historical figure, described in his time as the uncrowned king of Ireland, his statue stands in a prominent place in Dublin, even now most Irish people and many British people will know of him. Internet searches aren't everything, but when I tried this on Yahoo 4 of the first 5 articles were related to him, the 5th was a collection of images including him. Opposition appears to be US-based systemic bias and recentism, treating some probably transient US figures as of comparable notability, see WP:BIAS and WP:RECENTISM. You can throw out all the anti-American crap you want against the wall, but it doesn't make your favored Parnell the primary topic for the name. That's mangling what I said, I referred to "treating some probably transient US figures as of comparable notability", I clearly meant that they are not of comparable notability. Sorry, I seem to have misread that sentence. In any case, at least three other Parnell biographies are listed for what appear to be reasonably notable historical figures, unconnected to recent US history, one of whom (the poet) features prominently in the top ten Google Books search results for "Parnell".
