Although I've seen sources claiming he was a lawyer as well as graduated from the University of Virginia, I have been unable to verify either, since I haven't been able to travel to the courthouses in Winchester and/or Martinsburg, and the University of Virginia library's apparently backlogged. FYI, neither the Virginia Bar nor UVa's registrar has records going that far back. The Library of Virginia's special collections librarian showed me where images of post-Civil War legislators are on their website, but I've had a few computer problems since (as well as worked on family matters and other webpages)!Jweaver28 (talk) 22:56, 19 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
