I've read that Cotton Belt President Harold J. McKenzie had headquarters moved from St. Louis, MO to Tyler, TX during the 1950s. Can anyone source this as fact? --SSW9389 (talk) 18:26, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The October 1957 issue of the Cotton Belt News contains the history of the Cotton Belt up to that point. See 80 Years of Transportation Progress: A History of the St. Louis Southwestern Railway (Cotton Belt Public Relations Department, 1957). This history has as its origins the 1939 Masters Thesis of Jacob E. Anderson. Anderson's Thesis was published in seven issues of the 1947 Cotton Belt News. Cotton Belt President Harold McKenzie had 100 copies of the Anderson Thesis hardbound for his operating officers. Later the Cotton Belt Public Relations Department updated the Anderson Thesis and published this Cotton Belt History in the October 1957 issue of the Cotton Belt News. --SSW9389 19:32, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

This is correct, and was a primary reason that Cotton Belt downgraded Dallas while promoting Tyler after that date as its primary Texas terminus. Both the Lone Star and Morning Star were discontinued and replaced overnight with un-named Trains #7 and 8 between St. Louis and Tyler. After that date Dallas was only served by Dallas-Mt. Pleasant local trains 107 & 108 while Memphis was dropped altogether. The Cotton Belt's new corporate headquarters was constructed in Tyler at this same time. Although no longer owned by the railroad, the structure still stands today.

I would include it was this page as it was an important part of the Cotton Belt's history and legacy.
