The statue at the University of Minnesota currently stands in front of the armory, which was built in 1896, 10 years before the statue was made. However, the old 1906 photo of the statue shows a grassy field behind it. Based on this photo of the armory, it appears that there was a field in front of it. I wonder if the statue was originally facing the armory? cmadler (talk) 02:05, 2 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
