Still to do[edit]

The article needs a couple of paragraphs on TSotFiAH as historiography, explaining its importance and influence, but I'm not qualified to write these. - Polonius 10:22, 23 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

John F. Kennedy[edit]

JFK was a big reader of Frederick Jackson Turner and talked of the "new frontier" in his acceptance speech for the presidency. Perhaps a section should be added about that? Jevandezande (talk) 01:51, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge request[edit]

Hi. This article should be part of "The Significance of the Frontier in American History". A redirect from "Frontier Thesis" and "Turner Thesis" would help also. This one currently seems to exist only for the section "Opposition to...". -SusanLesch (talk) 16:43, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

merger should be into the more general article. The 1893. Paper was the first of many papers and the frontier thesis includes many other historians. ----

my apologies for my ambiguity--I oppose any merger and suggest multiple articles are the best solution. This article is about one very famous FJT essay of 1893 and deserves to stand alone. Not sure why the merge request was withdrawn. Clearly this article duplicates the article "Frontier Thesis" and should be merged into it. This "very famous essay" which deserves to stand alone actually *does* stand alone, at the beginning of an entire literature on the frontier. This essay's importance is the creation of the "Frontier Thesis" described in the article.128.171.199.221 (talk) 21:08, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
