Reason for removing the "proposed deletion" tag[edit]

You wouldn't know it to read it, butthis article is about one of the 108 Divya Desams, among the most venerable holy places of Vaishnavism: it needs sourcing and rewriting but notability cannot be in doubt. Attempts to find sources online will be bedeviled by the variety of names for this place (multiplied by the different methods of romanization of them); best look for paper sources. --Paularblaster (talk) 00:13, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Article issues[edit]

  • The article is about a pilgrimage place with three temples. The infobox gives the improper impression that Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy, Sri BhaktaVatsala Perumal, Sri Yoga Anjenayar Swamy are all in 1 temple. It also has unexplained jargon like Vimanam, Pushkarni etc., which is also used elsewhere in the article
  • Like Anjaneya is Hanuman, who is Bhaktavatsala Perumal? Is he a regional deity?
  • Explain jargon: karthikagai masam, 'one kadigai', Theerthams
  • What does "Sri Yoga Anjenayar with Sathurpujam(sathur=four, pujam=arms)sri sangu and sri chakaram 2 hands and jabba malai and jabha shankaram in other two respectively." mean?
  • "On entrance, a 36 ft Hanuman image is seen." which entrance
  • "Thirumangai Alvar , Peyalvar had sung in praise of Lord at Sholingpuram" "Many diseases have be cured by taking bath in the pushkarni and worshipping the Lord." Who of the three deities? Narasimha?
  • The article needs references and more detail. For references policy of wikipedia, see WP:REF.
  • The word "Lord" is avoided as a honorific title in wikipedia articles. Ganesha, Muhammad or Christ - none are referred by their honorific titles
  • What is Thirukadigai Mahatyam? Text, song etc.
  • Is Sholingpuram a synonym for Thirukkadigai?

Actually, Bhaktavatsala Perumal is not a different deity . Presiding Deity or moolavar(in tamil known as 'moolavar') is Yoga Narasimha swamy present in top of the hill while the Bhaktavatsala Perumal other name is 'Thakkan' is procession deity or utsavar(in tamil known as 'utsavar') in bottom of hill near Sholingur town. Only during the November month Bhaktavatsala perumal is brought to the top of hill. This month will be celebrated with great happiness, exult and devotion. Hanuman is in yogic posture meditates in small hillock. hence three shrine appears.

The etmology of Thirukadigai is as follows, Saptha rishis got the vision and blessings of Narasimha in yogic posture in the top of the hill (i.e big hill) for 24 minutes. 24 minutes is known as 'Kadigai' in sanskrit. Hence the name thirukkadigai. Other names are 'Kadigai malai' means 'kadigai hill'. In 108 divya desams this shirine is known as Thirukkadigai. sholingur or sholingapuram is the town where this holy site, Thirukadigai is located. The two hillocks big and small ones are located in a village named 'Kondapalayam' one of village in sholingur. All the names have their significance. kondapalayam, konda means hill and palayam denotes the place or village. The 36 feet Hanuman statue is located on the entrance of this kondapalayam, which is the entrance of the 2 hillock temples.

Pushkarni or Theertham is term used for the pond or water storage area which is said to be divine and medic in nature.
