The Debut (Jackie Evancho album)

Created by Ssilvers (talk). Nominated by Ritchie333 (talk) at 10:12, 25 July 2019 (UTC).

General: Article is new enough and long enough

Policy compliance:

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: No - - per the hook issue below but now fine with the billboard biz source
  • Interesting: Yes
  • Other problems: No - Unfortunately, the original hook wassn't accurate per Dream With Me and Someday At Christmas's debut positions. However, this was corrected by the creator of the article. Later, the sources cited didn't reflect the statement for "consecutive". - Now addressed, as source was replaced per below
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Have to leave my comments about neutrality and copyright here as they're giving me xs. Neutrality: y sounds fine, left at ? at first because this wasn't a primary concern in comparasion to the x ones. Plagarism: y 2.9% per earwig, lots of common phrases and names that can't be reworded - originally was ? cause i was focusing mostly on the accuracy issues first. • Article is new enough (2 days old), just over 1500 bytes, hook is short enough. A new hook is needed as this isn't exactly true, unfortunately. Dream With Me debuted at #17 while Someday At Christmas debuted at #4. Therefore, the mentions of this feat will have to be edited as well in the lead and chart performance.
  • Hi MrLinkinPark33. I made a change in the article and hook to say "reach" instead of "debut". All 8 releases (an EP and then 7 studio albums) reached #1 on that chart. That should resolve the issue. -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:44, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
@Ssilvers: Thank you for correcting the sources and hooks while I was trying to comment lol. I'm doing an indepth check first of all of the sources/content first. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 18:56, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
After an in depth check, I've discovered a few issues:
  • Is there a source to confirm the date of release and label?
Times only has the date, not the label. Again, since I don't have the liner notes on me, I can't vouch (see below).
This shows a photo of the back cover of the CD, which says @2019 JE Touring, Inc., near the bottom. Page 3 of the Liner notes says the same thing. How's that?checkY
  • While Swart did played piano at the 28 April event at Feinstein/54, the Times square chronicles source doesn't say he played keyboard during the recording of the album.
  • That is mentioned in the Liner notes. The paragraph already has links to the liner notes, but I've now added another one. Do you really think we need all those iterations of the Liner notes ref in that paragraph?
If you want to bundle sources #2 and #5 at the end of the production paragraph, it'd work for me as all of the sentences would (persumely) be covered in those two sources. Also, you could drop the repeated #2 citations only if #2 and #5 are comboed together if you don't want to repeat yourself.
I guess it's better to repeat it, since the two refs are not otherwise related.
Okay. The liner notes do say Swart played piano on the album, but this statement is currently only sourced by ref#5. If you could add source#2 to the piano/keyboard part only, then that'll be fine. - MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 00:38, 27 July 2019 (UTC)

  • The music video of Burn was released on the 9th, not the 10th per the statement "which was released Tuesday".
Strange that the USA Today source is saying "new music video, which was released Tuesday" even though the 10th was a Wednesday. You might want to swap the source cause USA Today isn't correct.
I've added the YouTube video as a 2nd ref, since people don't like to see just a YouTube ref.checkY
  • Mayo Performing Arts Center doesn't state that Evancho including songs from The Debut in her Two Hearts tour. If the statement was in the Ruth Eckerd Hall source, I can't confirm it as the source is dead and I haven't found an archived copy either.
  • The set list wasn't published in a WP:RS, so I've removed the statement.checkY
  • There was a stop in Pittsburgh in between the two Feinstein's/54 Below performances, so the statement is not 100% accurate. See this source.
  • I've simplified the statement so that it is true now.checkY
  • Caufield's souurce doesn't specifcally state eighth "consectuive" #1 on the chart. I know the fact is true, but the source will need to be swapped in order to prevent original research.
  • Caulfield states "fifth". Then we have sources for sixth, seventh and eight. It is not original research because it is just math. 5+1+1+1=8. See WP:CALC. If you don't agree, I suppose we can drop the word "consecutive". You can see from the Jackie Evancho discography that her first, independent album, Prelude to a Dream was #2 on the classical albums chart, but all of her subsequent releases (the platinum EP and the following 7 studio albums), have been #1 on the Classical Albums Chart. -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:47, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
I'll leave this for last, as it circles back to the original issue (hook).
Per replacement of the source with Billboard Biz checkY
  • I have to personally verify the album notes myself for the producing, mastering, writers, and track listing. That is something I need to do, and not the nominator/creator of the article.
  • I've got the liner notes here in front of me. -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:16, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
I was hoping to verify it with a copy at my local library, but they don't have it (I persume cause it's too new). If you could send me a copy of the liner notes, I'd very appreciate it.
I'll try to go and get a scan. But the track list is shown on the back cover of the CD, as well as at iTunes, and you can verify the writers by clicking on the blue-linked names of the shows/movies that each song came from in the left column.checkY
Thanks for sending me a scan of the liner notes. That's a first someone's actually offer to send any liner notes to me :) --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 21:11, 26 July 2019 (UTC)

I've also notified Richie333 as he was the nominator for this article. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 19:45, 25 July 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for all your hard work. -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:25, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
@Ssilvers: Your welcome. I've added comments and ticks to your replies above. I'll check tomorrow for any comments. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 23:33, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
@Ssilvers:Update. All is good apart from the wording of the hook and a tiny issue with Swart. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 00:38, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
Swart is done now. For the hook, I think we could cite this: https://www.billboard.com/biz/search/charts?f[0]=ts_chart_artistname%3AEvancho&f[1]=itm_field_chart_id%3AClassical%20Albums&f[2]=ss_bb_type%3Achart_item&type=2&artist=Evancho . -- Ssilvers (talk) 02:04, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
Swart is checked. You could use that hook citation if you wish, as long as you switch the citation in the article as well. @Ssilvers: --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 02:23, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
Done, MrLinkinPark333. Approved for DYK now? -- Ssilvers (talk) 04:41, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
@Silvers: Looks good to go. I'm impressed with your active repsone despite you not being the nominator. Informing @Ritchie333: as well that it looks A-ok. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 15:30, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
Please note: the creator of the article bolded the above in the nomination, not me. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 17:21, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
