Tetyushsky District (Russian: Тетю́шский райо́н; Tatar: Тәтеш районы) is an administrative[1] and municipal[5] district (raion), one of the forty-three in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. It is located in the southwest of the republic. The area of the district is 1,632 square kilometers (630 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the town of Tetyushi.[2] Population: 24,875 (2010 Russian census);[3] 27,040 (2002 Census);[7] 27,812 (1989 Soviet census).[8] The population of Tetyushi accounts for 46.6% of the district's total population.[3]
