March 2015[edit]

Hello, I'm John from Idegon. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Townsend Harris High School, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! Hi, Arthur. Three things:

If you look at the reference you used in the edit mode, you will see it has a title which reflects a date and a field called "Accessdate". If you change those to reflect the current values reviewing editors will know you did what you did.
When you post on a talk page, new threads go at the bottom.
Also when you post on a talk page, remember to sign and date your messages by typing four tildes.

Thanks for your edit. Sorry you had to redo it, but please understand why it was reverted and take this opportunity to learn a bit more about how to do it right. Wikipedia is not quite as simple as it appears on the surface. I'm always happy to help with technical issues. Feel free to drop me a note anytime. Thank you, John, for the tips. I will try to bear this all in mind the next time I try to edit anything. You are certainly right when you say that Wikipedia is not quite as simple as it appears. For example, it is not clear to me exactly how to "drop a note" to anyone when one is seeking advice - whose page should one access for that? Arthur Browning (talk) 17:28, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'll leave you a link fir a special page just for newer editors to ask questions called the Teahouse. Also you are welcome to leave me a message where you did before on my talk page. Every article has a talk page too and you would use that page to discuss edits on that article. I'll also leave you another welcoming message which will have links to policies and such. Glad you are here. You'll find most editors are willing to help, but like any other large group, you'll find some are nicer than others. Happy editing! This is being posted on your Talk page where you can receive messages from other Wikipedians and discuss issues and respond to questions.
