Notice

The article Jonathan Ancer has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. My mistake. I did not mean to publish it yet, I just wanted it in drafts. (Barry Washkansky (talk) 12:20, 9 October 2020 (UTC))[reply]

Jonathan Ancer moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Jonathan Ancer, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. ... discospinster talk 17:14, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Editing Wikipedia with a possible paid conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon

Hello Barry Washkansky. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Barry Washkansky. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Barry Washkansky|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. SamHolt6 (talk) 13:50, 27 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Samantha While I am paid to write Wikipedia pages for my clients, I get a lump sum and have absolutely no financial interest otherwise. Those edits you mention were probably made to Amazon or other sites that sell their books. If this is not allowed, I apologize, I am relatively new at this. I will refrain from linking to those pages, if that is indeed what you are referring to.

Hi I would like to rectify any mistake I made so I can fix up the pages. Once again, beyond offering my services as a writer of Wikipedia pages, I have absolutely no financial interest in the pages at all. I look forward to your speedy reply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Barry Washkansky (talkcontribs) 05:51, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi I am a copywriter and provide writing services for my clients. Karin Schimke paid me to write her Wikipedia page. I did not receive compensation or request any from Jonathan Ancer. I apologise for my indiscretion, it seems I needed to disclose this at the start.

Thanks Barry — Preceding unsigned comment added by Barry Washkansky (talkcontribs) 08:10, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Barry Washkansky: I see you are a paid editor and despite previous warnings, you haven't clearly disclosed your clients. Please, read Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure carefully. You are required to disclose employer, client, and affiliation for every paid contribution. MarioGom (talk) 18:33, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I will do that ASAP but the page has not yet been submitted for review so thought it wasn't necessary yet. Barry Washkansky (talk) 07:56, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
