Image without license[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:TheFistandtheFinger.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:TheFistandtheFinger.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 21:45, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:12, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on African American Artists Collective KC requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, society, or group that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Notice

The article Michelle Beasley has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

While there are several Michelle Beasleys who come up in searches, this particular one does not have enough in-depth coverage to pass WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Just read about you on NPR![edit]

Hi! My name is Susan (User: Megalibrarygirl) and I just read about you online, after being tipped off by my fellow Wikipedian, Ipigott. We know you are familiar with Art+Feminism, but are you familiar with WikiProject Women in Red? Our group is very friendly, very helpful and works to increase content about women and women's works. I hope you'll go visit and say hi to the folks over there. I'm a librarian myself in El Paso, TX. It's nice to see a librarian doing the Wiki in Residence thing! Go Kansas! Megalibrarygirl (talk) 23:44, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations, Chrysanthemum123, on your appointment as Wikipedian in Residence. Good to see that tomorrow you are hosting an editathon on Kansas City and women's basketball. Great start! Please let me know if I can be of any assistance, for example reviewing articles, mentoring new contributors, etc. And as Megalibrarygirl has said, it would be great to have you as a member of Women in Red.--Ipigott (talk) 06:38, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ipigott and Megalibrarygirl! Thank you for the congratulations and it's so nice to meet you both. I am familiar with WikiProject Women in Red -- although I'm not as familiar with your landing page as I am with Art+Feminism's website and worklist. I will definitely go visit and say hello! I'd love to join.
Ipigott, thank you so much for the help offer -- I would absolutely love help with the Kansas City and women's basketball worklists and possibly with mentoring new contributors on the day-of the event (although I know it's tomorrow so no worries if that's too soon!) I've specifically been researching the WBA, a women's pro-ball league that operated in the Midwest and that was active in Kansas City, MO in the 1990s and am not sure if all of the players are notable enough to warrant their own articles. I've been looking through the Women in Red Women's Basketball worklist and was thinking about linking to that for additional Wikipedia practice for beginner editors. Do you have any other ideas? I'd love to flush out the articles to improve list so that brand new editors can make their first edits on existing articles. --Chrysanthemum123 (talk) 16:02, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
By all means use the basketball redlist but don't assume that all those mentioned are notable enough for articles. I'm tied up today but I'll see what I can do early tomorrow. Good luck!--Ipigott (talk) 16:14, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the info, Ipigott! I will keep that in mind. No worries at all if you can't help this time around, I will definitely keep Women in Red in mind the next time events like these happen! Appreciate the luck. (: -- Chrysanthemum123 (talk) 16:23, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm also glad to help, too. If any of your participants needs a reference that I might have access to, email me. That's the fastest way to get a hold of me. :) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 16:28, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Megalibrarygirl! I appreciate it and will reach out if reference questions come up. (: -Chrysanthemum123 (talk) 13:23, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • First of all, I should explain that I am no expert on sports but I can perhaps give you a few tips. WikiProject Basketball has a task force on Women's basketball which lists a number of resources. Among these is a List of current NCAA Division I women's basketball coaches which contains quite a few red links. WikiProject Women's sport has a Help page which you might find useful. My own advice is to be careful not to encourage new contributors to write articles about living people who are not covered in some detail by at least three good secondary sources (such a press articles, critical reviews, published books or award descriptions). Having your first article deleted can be very discouraging. I've been looking at the names you have listed on your editathon page and only one, Sarah Campbell, seems notable enough (unless you have other good secondary sources for some of the others). Maybe the Black Archives of Mid-America can provide some valid sources. If so, you should link them to the corresponding names on the list.--Ipigott (talk) 07:04, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I super appreciate these resources and your response, Ipigott! I agree that only Sarah Campbell seems notable enough with the sources I could find on the web, I've been digging into newspaper databases this week. I will make sure to reiterate the 3 sources note and to include the helpful links you shared. Thank you so much! -Chrysanthemum123 (talk) 13:23, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds good. Just let me know if you need any further help with anything. I hope it all goes off well. I'll keep my eyes on your editathon page for any developments.--Ipigott (talk) 13:28, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Another interesting article in The Pitch[edit]

I've just been reading with great interest "KCPL’s new Wikipedian in Residence gives us the tools to edit our own stories". I've listed it on the WiR Press page. Your "webinar" approach seems to be bearing fruit. Please also let me know how your zines develop. I see you are planning another editathon, this time on art, on 23 September: Wikipedia:Meetup/Kansas City/Wiki Edit-a-Thon: Missouri Artists. Hope it goes well. Please let me know if I can help you along in any way. (cc Megalibrarygirl, WomenArtistUpdates)--Ipigott (talk) 10:44, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ipigott! Thanks for reading the article! I am enjoying the webinar approach, we've had pretty consistent engagement with it and I'm excited to create webinars under different subthemes. I will definitely keep you up to date on my zines, currently I've created one for open-source tech more broadly, but I'm working on the Wikipedia 101 ones next. Thank you so much for your help in reviewing the articles I recently created, and for your offer for help during today's Edit-a-Thon! It's so nice to know that there are so many helpful folks on Wikipedia. *Chrysanthemum123 (talk) 14:50, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Citians[edit]

Hi Chrysanthemum. I thought you had made a spelling mistake in your last announcement about Kansas citians. But I now see it was intentional. But you seem to be the only one using this. Let's see if anyone else takes it up.--Ipigott (talk) 19:02, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Meetup/Kansas City?[edit]

@Chrysanthemum123: How are you? I haven't heard if your contract with the KCMO Public Library was renewed, but whether it was or not, I hope you are well and enjoying life.

Do you have suggestions for what I might do to connect with other Wikipedians & Wikimedians in the greater Kansas City area?

I've found three events you organized on Wikipedia:Meetup/Kansas City, but it looks like no one other than you signed up for the third. That links to other pages, e.g., Wikipedia:Meetup/Kansas City/List: This is a list of 352 users, but only 5 have been added since 2012.

I'm especially interested in organizing edit-a-thons to involve people in creating and maintaining directories of the following:

  1. A "Community Organization Directory of Peace, justice, environment, and human rights groups in the Kansas City Metro" based in Wikidata: PeaceWorksKC.org has one that has not been updated since 2018. However, it still attracts a fair amount of traffic. That suggests it would be worth the effort to create a system that would make it easy for volunteers to maintain it.
  2. A directory of news outlets of interest to people in the greater metro area. People with the [

http://www.communityofreasonkc.org Community of Reason Kansas City] want to create something like this.

I think Wikidata would be an ideal platform for getting volunteers involved in maintaining lists like this, which could be extracted daily or monthly to update a directory hosted on another website.

Comments? Best Wishes, DavidMCEddy (talk) 18:41, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Chrysanthemum123: I just got an email saying this page has been updated. I'm very glad to hear you are alive and doing something. Can you tell me more about what you are doing now?
