Hi Eric this page and other pages related to the journalist are under attack by some users and a user from Nepal...could you help in addressing this issue? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arun_Budhathoki — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ozar77 (talkcontribs) 03:29, 5 June 2019 (UTC)

A Yorkshire lass in Manchester

Hi Eric, Nice to see your name re-appear on a few reviews again recently. If you have time (and inclination), could you look in on an article you started some nine years ago - Elizabeth Raffald. The old girl is now at PR after a re-write. Cheers - SchroCat (talk) 09:45, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

I'll make a few comments which you're perfectly free to ignore if you so choose. My opinion doesn't count for much here anyway. Eric Corbett 20:34, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
I'm much obliged, and your comments on content are always welcome. Even with your reduced attendance on WP, you are still one of the best writers on the site. Cheers - SchroCat (talk) 20:48, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
I am. And you know what I'll be doing when your new, improved article is finished. ;-) Eric Corbett 21:02, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
I do – and it'll be a great step for it too! - SchroCat (talk) 21:14, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

"Even with your reduced attendance on WP, you are still one of the best writers on the site." What he said. For what it's worth, I'll be in Manchester for most of the weekend, partly at meetup #36 but also the Science and Industry Museum, the Art Gallery and the Transport Museum. I'll probably read up on local history and architecture and see half of the articles having you as the primary or major contributor. It looks like Liverpool and Manchester Railway needs a bit of a tidy up, so if anyone can recommend some books to get hold of while I'm up there, I'll have a go at that. What leads you to believe that I have even the slightest interest in that ancient nonsense? Eric Corbett 21:31, 22 June 2019 (UTC)

Thank you and the others who helped for today's Donner Party, "A harrowing tale of bravery, hardship, and cannibalism in the old Wild West. It was hard to read about and hard to write; I hope the consensus here is that the effort was worthwhile."! Brave! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:24, 23 May 2019 (UTC)

I have a comment on one of your old edits of that article, namely this one. That was a mistake, since it made the later dying confession of Reinhardt that he had murdered Wolfinger incomprehensible. Sorry to bring this up after so many years, but that's how long it took for this mistake to be fixed. Regards, WolfmanSF (talk) 00:44, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
After nine years you come up with this nonsense? Jeez! No wonder all the major editors of this article are long gone. Eric Corbett 00:59, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
It's not nonsense. What on earth is your problem? That edit created an obvious and significant flaw in the article that it took nine years and nontrivial effort on my part to correct. If you don't care about the articles you're editing, what are you here for? WolfmanSF (talk) 17:28, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
Why don't you just fuck off back to whichever stone it is that you live under? Eric Corbett 17:34, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
Indeed. WolfmanSF you brought up a nine year old edit, and its either because you are cosmically pedantic or being willfully niaeve. Either way, I sort of agree with Eric's response, and recommend that you do just that. We have SOFIXIT for a reason. Ceoil (talk)
Forgive my over-hasty response at a point in time when my blood pressure was elevated (or not, as you prefer), but I still think my suggestion to be more careful and look at the impact of an edit in he context of the entire article is valid. WolfmanSF (talk) 18:18, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
Do what you want, and in the meantime, as I dont live the the 19th century ("Forgive my over-hasty response"), there is no interest in your adventures here. Ceoil (talk) 18:36, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
  • In the meantime, I’m waiting on the Coen brothers’ film of same. “A harrowing tale of bravery, hardship and cannibalism in the old Wild West” sounds just up their alley. Kafka Liz (talk) 19:00, 25 May 2019 (UTC)

Precious anniversary

Precious
Seven years!

I read the discussion again, of seven years ago, - those were the days! Yesterday, I saw an opera with Andreas Scholl, an article you kindly helped me to expand. Thank you also for coining the term cabal of the outcasts, - still fits ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:57, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

I'm surprised to find you still here Gerda, you're a glutton for punishment! Eric Corbett 21:04, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
My first barnstar was for resiliance, only days into my "career" here. Outcast is fine, and good company. My last encounter with AE was in 2015, and they sent me away saying I should not do it again. - The wildflowers for your wife are on my talk, btw. Rheingau Musik Festival opened today, and the theme is Courage. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:11, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
ps: same 2009 page, just below, some great advice (in German) "durchatmen, bis 20 zählen, runterschlucken", deep breath, count to 20, swallow. Good any day ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:26, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
I don't regard it as any kind of privilege being allowed to edit here, quite the reverse really, so what is there to lose? The loss is Wikipedia's, not mine. Eric Corbett 23:32, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
I am known for my seemingly unrelated comments, but you are even better at it. What do the enforcement of AE, wildflowers and courage have to do with privilege or not? - This should be a project anyone can edit, should be should be should be. I am with the outcast, and can say so only editing, not when "lost". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:23, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

Hello

Hello Eric - I hope all is well with you and yours. I did notice your post near one of mine and wanted to acknowledge it, even if it wasn't directly in response to me. I don't mind doing the "right thing" in regards to wiki - it's just that I don't care all that much about it anymore. I appreciate and admire those who continue to contribute, but I can't see me getting all that involved anymore (at least right now). I have voiced a few thoughts over the most recent dust-up (one of the worst I can recall in my time), but other than that I'm really not about much anymore. Anyway - my best again. — Ched :  ?  — 13:50, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
