Good job[edit]

Good job with developing some off-road racing articles for a team. It's refreshing to find someone helping at Wikipedia who knows more about off-road racing than I do, and I'm only a long-term fan that catches about 2 TORC races each year including Crandon. I hope that you are able to stay and help me with some more of the big names. Please let me know if you need any help or if anyone is giving you grief because no one else understands the sport. Thanks a lot, I'm still working on the Vildosola Racing and the drivers stuff. And still learning on how to post things and whatnot but thanks for the support. It always made me mad that wikipedia has little to no information specially on the big name drivers that made the sport what it is now. Erikpn (talk) 04:55, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. You should have done enough work to ensure that the articles for the 2 Vildosola's and their team should stick. The key is having verification from reliable sources which you are doing right. I suggest that you start developing articles in your userspace which is considered outside of the main encyclopedia area (known as mainspace). If you post an incomplete draft to mainspace without reliable sources, it will probably be deleted very quickly (often within minutes). You can read more at Help:Userspace draft.
I took lots of photographs from Crandon during the past 3 seasons so I have shots of most of the big name drivers from the present. So let me know if there are any that I should upload. I'm glad I got to see hometown favorite Jack Flannery be inducted in the Off-road Motorsports Hall of Fame before cancer claimed him. I've been an off-road racing fan since around 1990 watching ESPN coverage. I was lucky enough to pit once for a VW Buggy when the series raced at Road America. Jimmie Johnson raced & I remember Brendan Gaughan dominating in a mid-level race - but I didn't meet either. Royalbroil 05:23, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I am learning as it goes, I wasn't aware of the references part when I started nor that you can do your drafts elsewhere. To be honest with you I was thinking of just doing a fast mention of their job and that's it but once I got started I started adding more and more info that I initially wanted to post and now I'm hooked on adding info. I've had my Wikipedia account for years now and just did a couple of small mods before this is the first time I do a full article. I will keep on working on other drivers and updating the Vidósola stuff, my hometown favorites :D. Erikpn (talk) 05:35, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I know, it's it cool how you just want to keep building something until it's done to your satisfaction! I checked out and notice that you keep using bold throughout the article which should only be used the first time that the article title is used. Another thing is that you should only provide a wikilink (internal link to Wikipedia) on only the first time that you use a term, except if it appears in a list. I do notice a small amount of WP:PEACOCK words like "impressive", "ferocious battle", etc. If you can address these issue and ensure that you have at least one reference per paragraph, I suggest that you consider nominating these article for "Did You Know", the best new articles on Wikipedia. If you can think of a sentence featuring all three article then you could get a triple feature. How about ... Did You Know ...that Vildosola Racing drivers Gus and Tavo Vildósola won the 2010 Baja 1000, the first Trophy Truck overall winner since 1973? I can proofread if you want to give it a stab first. I'm signing off-line now for the night. By the way, you don't have to leave talkback messages on my page each time. Royalbroil 05:57, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I'll fix that pretty soon. I do have a lot of days off from work but today I started working so I may not be updating stuff the next few days. I'll read more on the DYK stuff sounds interesting, and I do like how you put that. Thanks.Erikpn (talk) 06:06, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I already fixed the Vildosola Racing team article. I will keep working on the drivers page later, right now I am at work so I don't have time to keep on updating right now. Thanks. Erikpn(talk)06:48, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I already went and clean up the three articles. I also went and checked the DYK section, don't know what you think if I go with this:

Yep, looks good! Royalbroil 13:16, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I just added it. Erikpn (talk) 14:42, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I reviewed each of the articles for grammar, tone, and Wikipedia's style guide. There wasn't anything glaring - just minor things. This does make me ineligible to review the articles for the purpose of meeting DYK standards. I encourage you to check Wikipedia:Citation templates and Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners with citation templates. I urge you to do this to the articles - especially consolidating references, expanding out the full details about a reference, and providing a citation for each paragraph. Royalbroil 04:52, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I will work on that ASAP. Erikpn(talk) 05:00, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
