Welcome!

Hello, Grella, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, like Allen Coates, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted.

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Allen Coates requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Your speedied article[edit]

I am sorry to be slow responding to your email, but I don't look at mine very often - a message on my talk page will get seen much sooner.

As regards your speedied article: the downside of "anyone can edit" is that Wikipedia gets new articles at a rate of rather more than one a minute. A high proportion are unsuitable, many are people trying to insert themselves or their friends, and very often those consist of a name as the title and a single line that says "is AWESOME!!!" or "Hi Ted!" Even those get two sets of (volunteer) eyes - a New Page Patroller flags the ones that meet the quite narrow speedy deletion criteria, and an administrator looks and agrees before pressing the button. Against that background, your article, which consisted of the title "Allen Coates" and the single word "Alan", did not have a snowflake's chance of being recognised as a request to correct something elsewhere in the encyclopedia.

But the up side of "anyone can edit" is that you can just go and make the correction yourself, you don't need to float change requests as cryptic new articles. If you have expertise about the Hollies, by all means edit their article. (Note after drafting this - I see you are. Good.) Only cautions:

  • Wikipedia needs verifiability - "I know this from my special knowledge" isn't enough, you need to be able to cite a reliable source; while it's best if the source is available on-line, that's not essential - look at other band articles to see how they manage references, and WP:CITE for how to add them,
  • if other editors disagree, you need to discuss changes on the article talk page to try to reach consensus, and go to WP:Dispute resolution if necessary - read WP:OWN and don't try to "own" the article.

The Hollies[edit]

Grella, I saw your comment about one of The Hollies speaking about the accuracy of the article. Please have him contact me and I will attempt to assist. Thank you. --LegitimateAndEvenCompelling (talk) 12:56, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for March 6[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Andrew Robinson (actor), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ironside (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Information icon Hello, I'm Musdan77. I noticed that you made a change to an article, The Fugitive (TV series), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Musdan77 (talk) 20:59, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Grella. You have new messages at Musdan77's talk page.

Musdan77 (talk) 20:36, 24 July 2013 (UTC) the above edited out the factual additions & corrections I had made to the page on The Fugitive, however my amended version I have retained as it is more accurate than the edited current version. (the above also edited out a comment on his talkpage i made where i said i could understand another contributors annoyance at his edits plus his attitude re making a point over how that contributor 'not being American' precluded them from making a contribution about an American TV show, which I agreed was absurd - I have added this here as it should not be 'edited out' when it was a comment made by me in response to an absurd remark made at another contributor by the above and has only I can assume been susequently 'edited out' because it did not make the editor look very good ![reply]

February 2014[edit]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to The Searchers (band) may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.
