Fantastic Shabalanga[edit]

I enjoyed reading the brief blurb about Fantastic Shabalanga. It is unfortunate that the single source that you cited does not mention him, nor does it mention the basins in the cabin toilets. You might want to find some reliable sources that mention Fantastic Shabalanga by name, otherwise the article might end up being deleted for lack of verification and lack of notability. Good luck! --Bejnar (talk) 23:31, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Lumber Avenue has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The article fails to identify the significance of the subject's notability, as per WP:GNG standards.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. • Serious contributions are very welcome for Wikipedia articles; however, articles also need to be useful. Hence, the notability guidelines were established to that end. Please consider not creating new articles where you are not currently able to provide (1) an indication of why a topic is notable and (2) a citation to a reliable source for purposes of verification. The Lumber Avenue article that you created suffers from those problems. In addition, it is not a major route in Steinbach, Manitoba, and http://geodepot.statcan.ca] was unable to find such an avenue or street or road in Steinbach with that name. --Bejnar (talk) 23:51, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What hoax are you reffering too? Please be more specific? --Kijoorete-Bahnhof (talk) 00:06, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This was a warning in general based upon the lack of verifiability of the articles mentioned above. Specifically, Lumber Avenue looks as though it is a hoax because sources that reliably provide street data for Canadian towns and cities do not list a Lumber Avenue for Steinbach, Manitiba. That does not mean that it is a hoax, but it did indicate to me that a warning was appropriate. Also note that, so far, I have been unable to find any mention of Fantastic Shabalanga. --Bejnar (talk) 00:16, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lumber Avenue[edit]

Please read the notability guideline. Just because people live on a road doesn't mean it's notable. I live at the corner of two roads in a town of about 8,000. Does that make those roads notable? Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 00:18, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I notice, from the citation that was provided to Googlemaps, that Lumber Avenue is shown as running for about seven blocks in Steinbach, Manitoba. Please, could you inform us what it was about Lumber Avenue that made it worthy of an encyclopedic treatment? --Bejnar (talk) 00:29, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

I am indef blocked you for disruptive editing. You may read how to appeal this block at WP:GAB. If you agree to contribute constructively, by learning and following existing community norms for collaborative editing, you may post your assent here and I or another admin will unblock you. MBisanz talk 01:17, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I have read that, but I invite you to tell me what part of what I have said is disruptive? In essence all of what I have written above is true is it not? There was NO speedy deletion notice, and was NO complaint of vandalism and this user CLOSED the debate before it had finished! My discussion has turned into one about the misdoings of User:IronGargoyle into criticisms of myself.

I would like these questions to be answered:

1. Did User:IronGargoyle delete the article before the discussion was over?

2. Did User:IronGargoyle say that my article was vandalism even though there was no complaint of vandalism by any other admin?

3. Did User:IronGargoyle claim that there was a speedy deletion notice even though it was just a regular deletion notice?

and finally 4. What gives other people that right to delete my questions to Jimbo Wales on his talk page? It is HIS talk page right?

Thank you. --Kijoorete-Bahnhof (talk) 01:26, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Note: checkuser has confirmed that this is likely to be Technoquat (talk · contribs). Since people had already reached that conclusion based on behavior alone, this seems fairly open and shut. Saionara. --Jayron32 01:30, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Answers to questions:
  1. Yes. There wasn't anything wrong with it.
  2. While I don't know if your article was really vandalism (only admins can check the deleted article's contents), he didn't need another admin to make a complaint; other users had voiced concerns about the notability.
  3. He didn't make a claim, but the tag is not necessary for CSD's to apply.
  4. I don't necessarily agree that your comments should've been removed, but canvassing is not considered kosher here.
I'm sorry if you feel bitten, and I hoped you didn't have to have your account blocked, but numerous admins and editors besides IronGargoyle have attempted to explain this to you. If the CheckUser tool did not find that this account is a sockpuppet, I think you might have not been blocked, however, if you didn't do canvassing, which is frowned upon. I hope my comment answers your questions, because I hope you don't get too intimidated by the jargon of experienced editors like "block as a sock".--Jasper Deng (talk) 01:33, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

:: Okay I give up. All I tried to do is create a page for my dear friend Fantastic Shabalanga. But I guess I am not cut out for Wikipedia editing. I argued as hard as I could and as civil as I could.

As you guys go to bed tonight I want you to think about Fantastic Shabalanga's hard work as a civil servant in Uganda. I suppose a bunch of admins thinking about him at night is just as good as an article on Wikipedia ay? I thought he deserved a little recognition.

But if I have broken the rules, for which I do not agree, then I guess there is not much I can do about it. Have a great day. --Kijoorete-Bahnhof (talk) 01:41, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
