Additional tips[edit]

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Five will get you the datestamp only.
You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

Australian rules football[edit]

Please do not continue to change references to Aussie rules. The current name is not only much more sensible, but also the result of previous discussions. I understand you are a proud Aussie Rules fan. I am not saying soccer should have preference over other codes, I am saying that the naming issue has already been discussed, repeatedly, and the consensus has been used to use the names "Australian rules football" "Rugby league" "Rugby union" and "Football (soccer)" on their first usage in an article, and "football" thereafter. Krabby me, letting you know that the above comments are still valid, and it would be kindly appreciated if you did indeed accept them. Your naming conventions for "Football (soccer) and "AFL" are swaying from what the international community has decided. This has nothing to do with showing lack of passion towards a code, I respect both of the sports mentioned, and many more. Images[edit]

Hi, Krabby me. I would appreciate it if you could clarify some thing about the images you have uploaded. Images should only used in Wikipedia if we allowed to use them under copyright law and Wikipedia's licensing conditions. For example, Image:Sampi3.jpg, a screenshot, can only be used to illustrate an article discussing the television coverage that it was taken from, not as an illustration of a mark. Image:Jezza.jpg, a scan from a newspaper, is in the same sort of category. I am not sure why you labelled it as being an image of a postage stamp. Image:Anzac3a.jpg says that you found it on a website. Could you please give more details? Most images on websites are not available for use by Wikipedia. Finally, you have said both that Image:Tarrant takes a mark.jpg was found on a website, and that it is released into the public domain. You can only release it into the public domain if you are the copyright holder. Could you please confirm that you took the photograph or hold the copyright, or provide some evidence that the image has been released into the public domain? I have listed Image:Jezza.jpg at Wikipedia:Copyright problems, for the reasons I gave above. I also removed it and the screenshot from the articles there were inappropriately included in, and so the screenshot should also be deleted as an orphaned "fair use" image. Hi again. I think that copyright for the Yahoo group photos is still owned by the original owners. They have simply given Yahoo permission to use them to promote their group. That permission does not extend to us at Wikipedia. Of course, if the group only exists to share photos, then they might have given permission for others to use them anyway. These photos might be ok for us to use, they might not, but until we know we can't use them. We need to have: firstly, evidence of who the copyright holder of the photo is, and secondly, evidence that they have released the photos under an appropriate license. Hope that helps. Re:Adding photos[edit]

Hi again! If the photographers have released the images into the public domain, then you can definitely upload them. After clicking Upload file, fill in the form, select PD in the licensing section, and in the Summary box, mention the author and preferably copy their statement that they release the images as well. Linking to the Gabba[edit]

Hello,

FYI, the current page at Gabba is only a disambiguation page. For linking to the stadium, please use a "piped" link such as:

[[Brisbane Cricket Ground|Gabba]]

This will still display "Gabba" but will send the reader directly to the intended article. I've already disambiguated your infobox at Steve Johnson (footballer) about it.

Attack[edit]
