Heritage registers and copyright[edit]

I had to remove the text you added about the Taringa Masonic Hall because it is a direct copy from the Brisbane Heritage Register which is copyright material. It is fine to add a bullet point and a citation for it (that's not a copyright issue) or to write about it using your own words (not a copyright issue). However, it's a different story with the Queensland Heritage Register which does allow their material to be copied provided we give proper attribution. This is why you will find many detailed Wikipedia articles about place on the Queensland Heritage Register, but relatively few Wikipedia articles for places on the Brisbane Heritage Register. What I find the best thing to do with places on the Brisbane Heritage Register is go to the History section of the Wikipedia article for that suburb and add some facts from the BHR in my words. So I might write something like

The Taringa Masonic Hall was built in 1902 by Edwin John Griggs. It is a two-storey timber structure with a corrugated iron roof. It was used for both Masonic purposes and for general community use.[BHR citation]

If you need any help, please don't hesitate to ask me. Kerry (talk) 08:52, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
