Tagging Fenchurch (clothing) for speedy deletion

Hello MRSC (talk · contribs) ... I encountered this newly created article while performing New Page Patrol or Counter Vandalism Unit activities.

In my opinion it lacks sufficient Attribution to satisfy the Notability criteria for Organizations and Companies ... or perhaps it reads like Vanispmcruftisment, or it may violate Conflict of Interest.

The point is that I plan to tag Fenchurch (clothing) with either a speedy delete tag of {{db-inc}} (CSD A7) or a {{prod}} that explains my concern about why this article fails WP:CORP ... I have created this initial entry on your Talk page because you are either the original author of the article, or one of the most recent editors of it.

I will leave more detailed information regarding my specific concerns about this article on its Discussion page ... please respond either here or there, instead of on my talk page.

Happy Editing! —68.239.79.82 (talk · contribs) 08:01, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

London postal districts

Whats happening with these pages? Is there a debate on the many stubs that almost completely duplicate the information about the area they mark? Just wandered across the issue from Henrygb's user page. Thanks, RHB - Talk 18:41, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your message. The point is that an article talk page is not the place to try to overturn an AfD. If you want to launch a DRV, I am happy to help.--Runcorn 12:34, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Places

I am still confused at to what constitutes low, mid, high and top, this time in terms of places. Shouldn't Biggin Hill be mid? Simply south 18:00, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Another importance query

South Bank seems the odd one out amongst the other 'Top' WP:London articles...I've amended it to high, but please feel free to challenge this! Paulbrock 23:49, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Dagenham

I added a section to the Dagenham entry on "Identity - Essex v London", which MRSC reversed. I'm a bit puzzled by your reference to the OR criteria; nothing there was original research, just a mixture of common fact and what Dagenham people have told me about believing they are in Essex. It is a subject that ought to be clarified as it does cause puzzlement. Any guidance is welcome before I re-edit anything. User:Alexander Howard

Postcodes

Thank you for seeing off another postcode fanatic in s.London! Kbthompson 23:39, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Had a long day at that article yesterday, rewriting and adding references. Do you have any info in your extensive collection of books you could add about the 1973 supplementary licensing proposals as that is the only bit I cannot reference? Regan123 10:10, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Londoncountycouncil.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Londoncountycouncil.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 22:16, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:People from Oldham by settlement, by Albireo223, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:People from Oldham by settlement is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:People from Oldham by settlement, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Category:People from Oldham by settlement itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 01:58, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Totties

I'm a bit confused as to why you have redirected Totties, Holmfirth to Totties, West Yorkshire and then to Totties. I do not feel that there was a need to do so, and you did not place a discussion on the talk page before doing so, to first obtain any objections or other editors views. Had you done so I would have advised that there is a 'Totties Place' in Victoria, Australia [1]. Totties when referred to with the wording Tequila has a tottaly different meaning: [2], as does Totties on its own:[3], or [4], or Totties Altrincham. May I respectfully request that you revert your edits in light of the above information? Richard Harvey 22:35, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi and thanks for your message. I moved it twice as I didn't realise at first that Totties was free. Wikipedia uses a 'most simplest naming' policy for places so this is the best place for it, given it is unused. As Wikipedia isn't run by committee I felt no problem with being bold on this move. Perhaps you would like to construct a Totties (disambiguation) article, given the information you have. MRSCTalk 22:41, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
No committee agreed, but sometimes consensus is often appreciated. :) I don't really think writing a disambig page to a large series of 'Tottie' links is exactly what I had in mind. However being aware of the 'Tottie' connection was what caused me to name the article as Totties, Holmfirth when I first created it. Best of luck with the re-categorising of the Kirklees places, its not an easy task! Richard Harvey 22:57, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Metropolitan Areas of the UK, by Mschel, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Metropolitan Areas of the UK is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Metropolitan Areas of the UK, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Metropolitan Areas of the UK itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 00:20, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Your userpage

Dear MRSC,

I'm new to wikipedia and I've been going around and browsing peoples userpages.
But when i ran into yours... I noticed that everything was overlapping and that your barnstars where ontop of eachother!
It only does this in IE7, not Firefox.
I hope you don't mind, but Iam going to edit your userpage (leaving content the same though) into a neat table layout.

Sincerely,
DecotalkDathoughtsMan 12:32, 6 June 2007 (UTC).

Ok, I just thought I would help. I will not edit your userpage. DecotalkDathoughtsMan 12:40, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Just a quick heads-up that the cat redirect will no longer automatically relocate all these pages into Category:Churches in the City of London, so you, me and others will have to do this manually/via AWB. Neddyseagoon - talk 21:43, 6 June 2007 (UTC) I'ld say use the saint name, else there'll be far too many under S.Neddyseagoon - talk 21:52, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Oldham categories at Cfd

The question of whether 'Oldham' cats should be renamed to 'Metropoloitan Borough of Oldham' has been taken to CfD, see Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2007_June_9#Oldham. As far as I can tell, this renaming proposal would apply to Wigan, Stockport and all other metropolitan boroughs - UK-wide - that share a name with a town. Your contributions would be welcome. Mr Stephen 15:36, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

People from Ealing

I see this Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2007_June_8#Category:People_from_Ealing_by_district has been done as a merge which surprises me immensely. What do you think we should do about the others following on from this as it knackers the whole category structure compared with the rest of the county? Do you think it is worth taking to deletion review? Regan123 07:55, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

OK. I will look at deletion review as soon as I can, but I am busy for most of this weekend. Cheers, Regan123 12:10, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
See Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2007 June 15#Category People from Ealing by District --Regan123 17:46, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Honestly I see massive edit wars across many boroughs which is why I have supported this structure even when I have asked for changes...Regan123 23:24, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Location maps

Would you consider dual-licensing your contributions to {{Location map}} and related templates under the cc-by 2.5 license so i could use them on the english wikinews? Happy editing. Bawolff 00:50, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

List of districts of London

I've now moved the very large table of London districts into its own article at List of districts of London, and merged in as much information as I can from article infoboxes for those entries that did not have any information. I hope this helps you with your efforts in filling in the details of this table. -- Arthur Frayn 11:56, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

WP:UKCITIES

Hello MRSC, hope all is well. It seems you've been away from Wikipedia for a short while (a wiki-blasphamy if ever there was), though I hope not for too long, as this encyclopedia needs you!

Just wanted to make you aware of the new WP:UKCITIES guidelines, which following your lead on the UK place infobox, is now conforming to the broader and more organised CITY class of doing things. I think it's an asset to the project, but feel free to make some input if you get chance.

Also, I've changed my name from Jhamez84 to Jza84 - it is the real me... honest. Hope to hear from you soon. Jza84 22:19, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Gone?

Why have you gone? I hope you'll reconsider, you'll certainly be missed. G-Man ! 22:58, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

I second that. I think you've been a seminal contributor to Wikipedia; a leader, role model, diplomat, and above all a truly great writer of encycopedias! I hope you'll reconsider. Jza84 00:53, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
According to our recent data, you are the 132 most active editor. If you truly left the project, it is a day of mourning.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  00:18, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
I have appreciated your help, your support and your mediation. I hope you'll be back soon - I need to fix the Infobox UK place template 8^). Take care and good luck. Kbthompson 09:16, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
