January 2015[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one or more of your recent edits to List of The Thundermans episodes has been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did to List of Jessie episodes, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. All info about unaired episodes must be supported by reliable source references Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:11, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to List of Jessie episodes. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. as before Geraldo Perez (talk) 04:56, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at List of Liv and Maddie episodes. All information about unaired TV episodes must have references Geraldo Perez (talk) 15:48, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Geraldo Perez, How am I adding un-sourced details, I'm trying to help, and i'm doing it right, why do you have to annoy people like that, I could block you from my talk page.Michael B. Kaplan (talk) 17:26, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:Citing sources, as explained in the previous messages and ensure that all info about unaired episodes is correctly referenced. You are getting your info from somewhere, tell us where you are getting it. If an episode has aired it is presumed the info comes from viewing the episode, otherwise is it presumed it is copied from someplace. Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:34, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have to add on to this, Michael. Your edit here where you post a talk page comment in the middle of another discussion doesn't demonstrate a lot of attention to detail, which we absolutely need at Wikipedia. Some younger editors find it difficult to participate here because the expectations are high. If this describes you, you might consider coming back to edit in about a year or so after you have a little more school experience. Geraldo is correct though that we need all content about a future event to be reliably sourced. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:47, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I got my ideas from some use of other Wikipedia sessions, and plus I use ideas from my brain which makes sense, so sorry Geraldo Perez Michael B. Kaplan (talk) 21:38, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
We need the information to come from reliable sources, wiki, wikia, imdb, your own thoughts won't be sufficient. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:54, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you kind Sir, I will use IMDB, Wikia, Wikis, but can I use Episode Guide Wikipedia too, can you reply to me. Michael B. Kaplan (talk) 22:00, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
1) don't add stuff to my page about this conversation, particularly by editing other peoples comments - I watch pages I edit and will reply to comments for me there. 2) The only sources that are acceptable are news sources, scheduling info from sources such as TV Guide, Zap2it and Futon Critic. Official releases from the network are also fine. And of course, the episode itself after it has aired is a reliable source for info about its contents as airing means "published". Do not use anything with Wiki in the name as they are all not reliable, including this one, as a reference. Do not use IMDb as it is also edited by anonymous people with no fact checking. Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Michael B. Kaplan, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your addition to List of Austin & Ally episodes has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here. Okay thank you for telling me this, I had no idea, please contact me again if I make another mistake, please insistMichael B. Kaplan (talk) 18:39, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:37, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
