- The best available source is an article on The Argus (Melbourne), 3 November 1937 (http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/11120743), which said "The new luxury train, "Spirit of Progress," which has almost been completed at the Newport workshops, will soon have its first run from Melbourne to Albury."
