Started a review of New Jersey Route 55 for GAN process. It would be awesome to be able to pass a highway article! I am sorry about the number of notes, but they should be easy to address in one way or the other. I wish you every success in your endeavours, and it may even leap to FA if the notes are fixed. Good luck SriMesh | talk 23:47, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I'll join, though I don't know exactly what I'll be able to contribute, and I've been extremely busy lately. Thanks for the invitation. -- BlastOButter42 See Hear Speak 00:58, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NYC meetup change of schedule[edit]

You've expressed an interest in the upcoming New York City Meetup for Saturday, November 3. I'd like to update you on an important change of schedule.

  • It's been agreed that we should have a 2-hour formal meeting period to start organizing meta:Wikimedia New York City, and this will be held at the Pacific Library (note this is different from the Brooklyn Central Library, which was discussed earlier) from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM.

This will be in addition to the previously scheduled roving activities at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden (this activity has also been cut short a bit) and at the Brooklyn Museum. For full details, see Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC. Ask any questions at Wikipedia talk:Meetup/NYC. Thank you.--Pharos 21:10, 26 October 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Combining Route Pages?[edit]

You're doing a nice job keeping most of the key info intact, such as pics, maps, etc. Along with CR 33, I think CR 80 & 106 should have their originals kept. -Airtuna08 00:53, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, took a little bit of a break from the wiki politics. CR 106 makes sense to be with NY 210. CR 73, CR 75, & CR 118 could probably merge with NY 306 since both were a part of the original NY 306. When your done with that let me know if you're still up for doing the Orange County routes. Lemme know. -Airtuna08 04:26, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I drove every route including Cedar Flats Rd which was CR 69. Look at the CR65Northernterminus or CR118WesternTerminus/Begin picture. That's where CR 69 used to end as well. All signage for CR 69 is gone. This must be recent as Google fails to update frequently and Rockland maps from 2004 have CR 69. Also, as far as citing all those route pages on your userpage as you wrote, I would appreciate some attribution to myself. I appreciate the work, but you did copy and paste. Since were all buggers on citing things here. -Airtuna08 02:28, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You may as well write a blurb about CR 69, if other former routes such as CR 37, 106A, 80B are going to get them. -Airtuna08 17:58, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Other than matching termini, I don't. (CR 52's EasternTerminus is former CR 37's southern terminus, CR 65's northernterminus is former CR 69's northern terminus, etc) But I will get some next time I'm around them. I'll gather up some pics in Orange County this weekend perhaps. I'll be up in Port Jervis, which will give me a chance to take some backroads home. -Airtuna08 18:44, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thought you were giving me permission, don't worry, I won't again. -Airtuna08 18:59, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, those are the ones we have good ideas about. But CR 1 in Orange is about 30-40 miles long. So what routes will be significant for their own pages can be determined at a later time. -Airtuna08 20:43, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.empirestateroads.com/cr/crorange.html Check that out, a list of all Orange Routes from the late 1990s. Some or many may be decommissoned. I'll keep looking for something more up to date, but use that for now.-Airtuna08 20:51, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whitestone Origins[edit]

Actually, I didn't live there. I was just born there. My grandparents lived in Whitestone though, so I imagine that my mom's water broke when she was visiting them or something like that. I lived around Oakland Gardens for the first six or eight months of my life before being moved to Long Island. Now I'm in Florida(but not retired). ----DanTD 17:48, 4 November 2007 (UTC) [reply]

About NYC roads[edit]

I'm not sure what you mean exactly by "most of the streets should be formed" off it: that 14th Street (Manhattan) should be a model article for other NYC roads articles? I agree it's pretty well organized, with a careful delineation of all of the connections to the rest of the transportation infrastructure. One thing that seems to be missing, though, is the "culture" of the street, something that adds another dimension to city street articles that wouldn't be needed in most highway articles.--Pharos 15:19, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As I said, I think the organization of the technical transportation aspects of the article is fine. That article doesn't appear to actually be organized as "Intro-Street description-History-Future-Culture-Attractions-Major intersections-See also-References-External links", though — or at least History, Future, Culture and Attractions seem all to be squeezed into the Intro. Leaving that aside for a moment I could quibble somewhat with your proposed general order — the technical history (road improvements etc.) probably belongs in Street description, and the cultural history in Culture. And I'm not sure how many road articles actually need a Future section. But yeah, overall it's a good proposed structure. Do you plan on introducing it at Wikipedia:WikiProject New York City?--Pharos 02:00, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Erie County[edit]

Awesome job on those shields and the 574 article. Are you going to eventually combine them into three pages or so like Rockland? Let me know if you need any help with anything there. I also have garnered a good amount of info on Orange County which I will start importing soon. -Airtuna08 07:28, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

K, well I'll actually be up in Buffalo on business on the 11th-13th. I'll see what, if any, pics I can get. I won't interfere with your lists so that it stays consistent for you. Let me know as time goes on. Goodluck! -Airtuna08 17:24, 1 December 2007 (UTC) [reply]

NY 22[edit]

It's speculation, like saying that an Interstate will probably be extended when a state route is completed. You should probably write about it in Park Avenue (Manhattan); there is definitely more to say, such as Moses calling it impractical: [1][2] It really has very little to do with NY 22, and Park Avenue was also NY 100. The main thing is that we can't assume it would have been NY 22 (or NY 100) without a reliable source stating that it would have been, and that's not going to exist because route designations, especially in those days, were reactionary - they didn't move until the road was built. I recommend a sentence in the previous section, something like "these turns were necessary because of the lack of a direct connection between the Grand Concourse and Park Avenue; a Park Avenue Express Highway between the two was planned but not built." --NE2 17:12, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
