Maria Solares

Hi Qcne, I have been adding sources to other locations other than the Census, the Santa Ynez Valley News https://syvnews.com/opinion/commentary/maria-solares-journey-reveals-much-about-her-life/article_b0dfc9f6-5869-11e1-9c86-001871e3ce6c.html https://syvnews.com/opinion/commentary/hearing-maria-solares-will-fill-two-volumes/article_3464c054-4c96-11e1-940c-001871e3ce6c.html https://syvnews.com/opinion/commentary/chumash-deserve-an-accurate-historical-account/article_68d00c02-73da-11e1-afce-0019bb2963f4.html as well as KCLU and internal Wikipedia links such as John P. Harrington and the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians. There have been a lot of academic dissertations made citing Maria Solares (mainly through the University of California, Santa Barbara). Unfortunately I am not a researcher and I am hoping to get the draft page created so that others can add more details to her page. Maria Solares is mentioned in pages for the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, Lompoc, California, and Chumash traditional narratives. Since they all reference her it felt like a page is needed about her as a notable person, since she is a big deal within the Samala Chumash culture. The Santa Ynez Chumash Museum & Cultural Center https://chumash.gov/museum is opening soon and will be displaying a bust https://www.kclu.org/local-news/2022-05-06/how-the-santa-ynez-chumash-will-showcase-their-8-000-year-history-in-a-new-museum of her, and I was hoping to get something put together before it opens this year. Thank you for your feedback as I am still very new at this. Goney3 (talk) 18:25, 31 August 2023 (UTC)

Looks like its been accepted by another reviewer, well done! They've added a maintenance tag, which will hopefully get it improved by other editors. Qcne (talk) 12:45, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

New pages patrol invitation

Hello, Qcne.
  • The new pages patrol team is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles and redirects needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • I believe that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Linux router project

Can anyone be done with the Linux router project website that got hijacked? I don't want to check it out. Sorry. I saw the achieve copy from 2003. I saw the conversation on the teahouse. I am probably wasting my time anyways asking as Wikipedia can't control the websites. Cwater1 (talk) 04:21, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

Sorry @Cwater1, it's a case of the domain name has since expired and so has been taken over by a spam company. Qcne (talk) 11:07, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
Makes sense. It's terrible how a link years later gets taken over by spam or something graphic when the original has expired. Cwater1 (talk) 15:03, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
Link rot is a huge problem! :( I remember when PhotoBucket shut down, and suddenly a decade of early 2000s internet forums lost all their millions of images. Qcne (talk) 15:05, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
Maybe one day, something can be done. If you see something unlawful under US law, don't be afraid to report it. Otherwise, we can move on. For Wikipedia, when sourcing, there is that wayback site that keep achieves. Cwater1 (talk) 15:10, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi, you just accepted this article; one problem, it actually has no sources, as the link for the single reference doesn't work. Black Kite (talk) 12:38, 3 September 2023 (UTC)

  • Don't worry, I added the correct link. I've been cleaning up after the editor that submitted this for a few days now and we're at the point of blocking them if they don't stop. Black Kite (talk) 12:42, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
Ah, sorry, edit conflict. I see, thanks for letting me know. The article did need a lot of copyediting which I did, but I thought it passed WP:NPLACE. Qcne (talk) 12:43, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
@Black Kite: Hi, after one of editor said don't added info about a nation involvement in terror, I quit it adding. WP tells us you should assume good faith, I am volunteering here. Even I added reliable ref, your saying, I didn't added any ref? if you need any improvement in my contribution please explain. Tesla car owner (talk) 16:06, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
@Tesla car owner my biggest issue was your poor use of English grammar, I had to do quite a lot of WP:COPYEDIT on the draft to make it suitable for English. Qcne (talk) 16:14, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
Hi, from now on I'll write with outmost precautions. By reading all the refs I added in those articles, you can understand that, I do quality research before writing. I even read the journals and census documents of 1880. Tesla car owner (talk) 16:20, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
Just a note, you mean utmost precaution not outmost precautions!
I don't generally advocate the use of a Large Language Model like ChatGPT or Microsoft CoPilot, but in this instance its a good tool for re-writing poorly written text into something more suitable and approachable. If you do use a LLM to re-write your text, do not use it for generating references and carefully check it for Hallucination (artificial intelligence). Qcne (talk) 16:26, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
Hia @Black Kite. Odd, works for me? It's a primary source PDF that auto-downloads. Perhaps your adblock blocks it? Qcne (talk) 12:42, 3 September 2023 (UTC)

Draft:Martynenko Ivan Ivanovych (1924)

Thank you. You checked right away, thank you very much for taking the time to check this out. Please help me understand which source is unreliable from the article, so I can remove it. Inna Ogiievska (talk) 16:48, 3 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Inna Ogiievska. I can see you've now removed the Wikipedia sources, that's great. The nubip and cnshb sources are fine to use- we usually request three sources at a minimum, do you have another (preferably WP:SECONDARY you can use that discusses Martynenko?
Finally you still have some external links in the body of the text: we prefer editors don't do that. Examples include the links on Scientific Research Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture, VDNH. Qcne (talk) 16:58, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
@Qcne Thank you for your assistance with correcting the article. I have removed the links to VDNH and the Research Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture. I hope this will be sufficient to publish the article. Inna Ogiievska (talk) 18:00, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
As mentioned, we usually need a minimum of three sources. So far you have two primary ones. There must be news articles that discuss him? Qcne (talk) 18:14, 3 September 2023 (UTC)

Draft:Algerian-American War (1785-1795)/Draft:Algerian-Dutch War (1716-1726)

Hi ! I am Berber.Enjoyer 2 , the creator of the drafts 'Algerian-American War (1785-1795)' and 'Algerian-Dutch War (1716-1726), these 2 drafts were refused for the reason 'This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources' except these 2 pages was based on general sources which summarize the war in its entirety, in particular the American-Algerian war which was based on a government website (therefore from reliable sources) If you could take a look at it, it would be great !

Draft:Flux Malaysia

Hello @Qcne. May i request your help on my 1st article that has been declining which is not the issue as i am learning:)

Wanted to see if oyu can give me some examples of what requires changing in my last revised article:) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Flux_Malaysia — Preceding unsigned comment added by AfnanzafarBD (talkcontribs) 03:37, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @AfnanzafarBD.
You still have some issues. I'll point out the problematic language:
"through flexibility and convenience"
"quickly get prominence"
"projected to surge to around US$99.4 billion by 2030, exhibiting a remarkable"
Frankly though, the entire Market Size of Car Subscription and Rental in Malaysia vs World is not relevant to the article and should be removed or condensed to a sentence or two. Wikipedia articles are about the company, and not PR-speak about the market they sit in. Qcne (talk) 19:50, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
Hi @Qcne
This is a great help. I have made the changes, published and re-submit to you. If you can kindly have a look and approve if it sounds better now:) AfnanzafarBD (talk) 01:37, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

"the strict WP:NOTABILITY policy"

Ahem. Qcne, "at least three" sources? "Proving how this passes the strict WP:NOTABILITY policy"?

I understand a need to provide simple explanations to confused users, and WP:42 does that pretty well. When I personally link to it, I always describe it as an "(over)simplified summary" of the notability guideline. If there's a notability policy I haven't yet heard of, please let me know where I can find it. Similarly, please let me know if there's a strict "at least three" sources requirement in WP:GNG – I assume you mean "multiple" or "at least two". That's the guideline's implication as it speaks of "sources" in plural. Perhaps you mean "ideally at least three".

Whatever. 🙂 What I'm trying to say is: Please don't misrepresent the guideline in oversimplification. Keep it factual.

Best regards,
~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:56, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @ToBeFree. I've been calling the various guidelines 'policies' for a while now but you're totally right, I have been conflating the Policies with Guidelines and vice versa. My fault, I guess as they're synonyms they just got merged in my head. Sorry about that. I'll call them by their correct names, and thank you for pointing it out.
As for the 'at least three' bit- yeah, thats fair- it does state there's no fixed number. I usually like to see three, as that gives me a broad range to read from. But I'll go back to saying multiple.
Thanks for the advice, I am new to AfC so still learning. Qcne (talk) 19:03, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
😄 No worries. Thank you very much for your reviewing; the queue is huge and every hand is needed. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:04, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

One of my sources for the PRV-9 is a historical book

You asked me if i have sources on the PRV-9 other than forums and... one of my sources is a book? Should i add more or what D1d2d3d29 (talk) 12:15, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @D1d2d3d29. We usually like to see multiple sources, so the book one does definitely work, but the Forum source does not work. Could you replace the forum with further books? Qcne (talk) 12:17, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
Ok, will take me some time though D1d2d3d29 (talk) 12:18, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi ! I'm the creator of this draft and i wanted to know if you can check it out ? it's best one so far with source that came from medieval historians like Ibn Khaldun,Al Marakushi ect...also i wanted this draft can be accepted because it's an important war in medieval. It will be cool if u can check it Berber.Enjoyer2 (talk) 16:07, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Berber.Enjoyer2. I've done some copyediting throughout as there were some spelling mistakes and odd grammar. You've also got a floating footnote at the bottom, Ibn al-Athîr. Annales du Maghreb & de l'Espagne. p. 607., which needs to be corrected so it is the same sequence as the other footnotes. Let me know once you've fixed that. Qcne (talk) 14:42, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Draft:Empire of Democracy

Hi Qcne, I am the author of this article which you reverted back to draft. The reason for your rejection (The proposed article is not suitable for Wikipedia. Because Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, articles on fictional subjects should cover their real-world context and contain sourced analysis, offering detail on a work's development, impact or historical significance—not just a summary of the plot. You may wish to add this content to an existing article, such as Empire of Democracy. As anyone can edit Wikipedia, you are free to do so yourself.) does not make sense as the book is non-fiction; there is no 'plot' to summarise. It is not uncommon for Wikipedia articles to include summaries of chapters the way I have done for this article (see Das Kapital or A Brief History of Time). I also believe mentioning the author's motivation for writing the book is pertinent, but can remove the reference to his honeymoon if you consider it excessively irrelevant. Please let me know your thoughts. Kransky (talk) 12:11, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Kransky. Apologies, it's a template decline notice so maybe wasn't quite suitable for non-fiction books.
If you read my comment, I suggest the draft is probably notable but I just think the summary is far too long. If you look at A Brief History of Time it also has an excessive detail notice. Summarising books leans into WP:PRIMARY and WP:ORIGINALRESEARCH so can be really difficult to get right. I err on the side of keeping things short. Going by WP:NOVELPLOT and WP:NONFICTION both do state to keep the summary of books fairly concise.
It's a tricky one to get right, but if you'd like to get another editor's opinion you could post at WP:TEAHOUSE or WP:AFCHELP (not both at the same time!). Qcne (talk) 17:24, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
Hi Qcne, Thank you for your response and explanation, and direction to those links.

I have reviewed the "Synopsis / Summary / Overview / Themes / Plot" section in WP:NONFICTION for guidance. It appears the length of a summary is not specified (There is no universal set length for a synopsis, though it should not be excessively long). Instead, the summary should be written so that it highlights the most important elements (of the argument the author is seeking to put forward).

For each chapter summarised, covering a specific timeframe, I have noted the various events that occurred, and their underlying relevance to the argument that the author is putting forward. This is not original research; the events and the interpretations of the events are all purely the work of the author.

Importantly, the summary needs to be reasonably concise. In lieu of an actual word count, I think a reasonableness test would apply; i.e. with as few words as possible to communicate the book's main messages with sufficient evidence, and without losing nuance or context. Now this book is 870 pages long and takes a very broad and deep view of recent world history, including the interplay between economics, politics and society, so there is a lot to unpack. I made an effort to keep each chapter short, and have only referred to the most important historical events cited in the book. I am also mindful not to excessively summarise the author to the point the author's ideas are contextomised, or I am so selective of the author's work that I risk making it original research.
I am open to ideas how to bring this issue to a conclusion. It was only active for a few hours before you reviewed and rejected it, so perhaps if it was back up for a week or two we could get a wider range of opinions. Kransky (talk) 10:20, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks @Kransky, you've made some good points. I am going to seek a second opinion on the Articles for Creation talk page and see what they say. Qcne (talk) 12:04, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
@Kransky I've accepted the draft now- apologies again that my original decline reason wasn't clear. Qcne (talk) 10:50, 9 September 2023 (UTC)

Copywriter961lb

Hello, thank you for the feedback on the draft of AIMS Holding. I saw that you declined the submission, and I saw that you need better references. Can you please help me out with it? My supervisor wants me to publish as is, and there aren't much references online about it. So this is really all we have. Can we move it to the public, perhaps someone can improve it if they personally know more about it?Copywriter961lb (talk) 06:21, 13 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Copywriter961lb. I'm sorry your supervisor has put you in this position- it's a common mistake that companies do. I would really recommend reading (and showing your supervisor!) the following essay: WP:BOSS.
In essence, one of the fundamental pillars of Wikipedia is that only topics that meet our strict notability guidelines can have articles written about them. Notability is usually proven through significant coverage in multiple, reliable, secondary sources. No sources? No article. Note also that using Wikipedia to promote a topic is strictly prohibited.
As such I can't move this draft to mainspace, as there is no evidence the company passes the WP:NORG criteria. Sorry.
On another note, it is also against our Terms and Conditions to have an account on Wikipedia and be compensated (monetarily or otherwise) for your edits, without making a declaration. There are instructions on how to do that here: WP:PAID. If you want toc continue editing that draft you should make a paid editing declaration immediately.
Sorry this news isn't what you hoped for- if you have any other questions just let me know. Qcne (talk) 08:49, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
There is no compensation whatsoever, I don't want to be misunderstood.
I will inform that if there are no sources, there will be no article. Maybe then we can work more thoroughly on finding references to the sentences we wrote. Thank you so much for your time. I will revert with changes, edit the draft, submit again and hope to meet the guidelines. Copywriter961lb (talk) 09:17, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
The WP:BOSS document is related to being asked to write about their company or own self. Here, in this case, my superior is asking me to fill about a company we had researched about and found no presence for on Wiki. Copywriter961lb (talk) 09:19, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for clarifying, it sounded originally like you were employed by AIMS Holding and your supervisor there wanted a Wikipedia article made about it.
If you read the guidelines at WP:NORG it'll hopefully explain precisely what sort of sources written about a company needs to exist in order for there to be an article. Qcne (talk) 09:24, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for your time. Do you mind if after I do my corrections and submit the edit, I leave you a message here to check my work? If it doesn't work this way and the submission gets automatically assigned to a random editor, let me know. Copywriter961lb (talk) 06:46, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
Sure, feel free to reply to this message and I'll have a look. There are approx 160 reviewers and any new submissions goes into the queue for any reviewer to look at, but if you ping me here once re-submitted I can take a look. Qcne (talk) 07:31, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

Rejected draft on Sana Nagano

Hi Qcne, big thanks for looking at the article draft I submitted (Draft:Sana Nagano). You mentioned first 2 of 5 references are primary/interviews; actually the second one is by a well-established jazz journalist Brad Cohan, and only in part is an interview. The publications themselves (Jazz Times, AllAboutJazz, Downbeat) are important in the world of jazz music and Sana Nagano's work has deserved a separate article in each of them (not a passing mention). Given this, I think the article meets WP:NMUSIC. This said, since you have more experience than I do, I'm fine keeping this article as draft till more is published by, or on, Nagano -- I'm just making a note here that notability threshold might have already been met. Thank you again for reviewing! Podstawko (talk) 11:36, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback, @Podstawko! I disagree that the 2nd source is only partly an interview, unless I am mistaken everything after paragraph two is derived from the interview he had with her? Although I agree the site is reliable, interviews don't count towards notability.
The last three sources work for establishing notability, but the guidelines don't actually define what multiple equates to, other than presumably more than two sources. So although three sources could work, my gut feeling is that we'd need to either see a couple more or wait until Sana publishes more music so the sources are more diverse.
However, I could be wrong! This is open to interpretation. I am also fairly new at reviewing articles so if you'd like another reviewer to have a second opinion, feel free to re-submit it and I'll recuse myself from reviewing it again and add a comment on the article explaining why. Just let me know if you're going to do that so I can add my comment. Qcne (talk) 11:56, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
Thank you again Qcne. I have now added one more reference, updated the discography with 2 more albums which she published since Smashing Humans, and listed a few artists she performed with (each of which already have their Wikipedia entries). Let met try and re-submit, and again I really appreciate your feedback as I'm quite new to the exciting world of Wikipedia editing despite being a user for 19 years! Podstawko (talk) 12:13, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
Great, that I think does put it over the line so I've accepted. Please add some WP:CATEGORIES. Qcne (talk) 12:17, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
Thank you! Podstawko (talk) 12:18, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

Draft:American-Algerian War (1785-1795)

Hi ! I wanted to know if you can check up my old draft since i improved it a lot (big difference between now and then) so it's cool if it can transform in a indepandant wikipedia page !! Berber.Enjoyer2 (talk) 15:35, 9 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi again @Berber.Enjoyer2, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Accepted. It would be good to interlink this new article into Barbary Wars. Qcne (talk) 12:11, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
Why was this accepted? Such an article already exists at Algerian–American War (1785–1795).   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 18:29, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
@Skywatcher68 oh dear, I suppose this is my fault. @User:Berber.Enjoyer2 drafted American-Algerian_War_(1785-1795) via AfC on 02 September 2023. It went through some declines and was re-submitted again on 14:25, 9 September 2023‎. However on 20:45, 10 September 2023 they created Algerian–American War (1785–1795) as they now have mainspace rights so didn't need to go via AfC.
So it's two articles, both created by the same person, one via AfC and one via Mainspace route. I didn't know about the Mainspace one and it didn't occur to me to check, so I approved the AfCo one.
What do you suggest we do now? I did some copyediting on Algerian–American War (1785–1795) and added a source, before approving. But they're almost identical. One should be deleted, but which would be best? Qcne (talk) 19:10, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
Berber.Enjoyer2 appears to prefer the one you recently approved. I think replacing the one that has "Algerian" first with a redirect to the one that has "American" first would suffice.   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 19:48, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
Thank you. Qcne (talk) 07:47, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

Draft: AdSchool Master

Hello Qcne!

I want to know why this article should not exist on Wikipedia? The article is neatly written (if there is anything that is not worthy of Wikipedia, please let me know exactly what I need to change and correct in order to edit the article...)

The article is instructive, here are all the guidelines on how to work with SEO.. MoneySaver12 (talk) 21:36, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

@MoneySaver12 Wikipedia is not a place to advertise or promote or give instructions. Please carefully read WP:NOT. The entirety of your article was inappropriate for Wikipedia.
If you want to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, please start by reading WP:YFA. If you're just here to promote AdSchool Master then I suggest you find another website.
Let me know if you have any questions, 21:43, 17 September 2023 (UTC) Qcne (talk) 21:43, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
I know exactly what Wikipedia is. As a manager for edu projects in Macedonia, I have written many articles. The goal is not any promotion, rather a platform like Upwork and others. How come there is an article about them and there is no article about the platform that can also be earned from learning? MoneySaver12 (talk) 21:52, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
@MoneySaver12 See WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. The existence of other poor quality articles does not mean we should tolerate further poor quality articles from being added to the project.

Hi Qcne, again many thanks for looking at my submissions. Regarding Draft:Franciscan Well I have now added many more reliable references (including The Irish Times, Echo Live, Irish Mirror) and expanded the article. I'll keep researching as I sieve through some printed material in Cork library tomorrow (daunting task), but I re-submitted now anyway as I believe the notability criteria are now met. Take care and thanks again! Podstawko (talk) 20:55, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

Thanks @Podstawko - I'll have a look, perhaps after the weekend, if it's still in the queue :) Qcne (talk) 21:03, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
Thank you!!!
Forgot to add: the reference about Original 7 which you called out, even though referring to a different brand of beer, is actually about the same place, Franciscan Well, where Original 7 is now being brewed. The purpose of the reference was to point to the still-functioning Franciscan Well pub and microbrewery (physical place) even though the actual Franciscan Well (beer brands) are brewed elsewhere now.
This said, have a very good weekend :) Podstawko (talk) 21:07, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
Hia @Podstawko. I've done some copy-editing and changed about the layout a bit so it fits a more logical order. I think it's probably in an okay-state to be accepted now, but if you did want to add any further bits before you re-submit let me know. Qcne (talk) 12:00, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
I think this is amazing. All edits make sense. From my side I'll update the infobox photo to something more professional the next time I'm there. Many thanks for reviewing and editing @Qcne! Podstawko (talk) 20:22, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
I forgot to resubmit -- I did it now. Thank you again @Qcne Podstawko (talk) 07:25, 19 September 2023 (UTC)

Request on 18:32:26, 17 September 2023 for assistance on AfC submission by DingRawD

Hi @Qnce: the issues I currently have at the moment with looking into more detail for WGH is that over the 27 years they were active, they never really had a spot light or had much media press. It was mainly around 2015 with the scenic railway project that they had some notice, and when they were acquired by Stage One in 2016. The Yorkshire post is the best I can find into the history when they started with leisure rides during GMT and when they started up WGH.

I really don't want to lose this article mainly for the leisure attractions and project list as they have contributed a lot to the industry. All mention of it is through the University of Sheffield WGH Rides archive which I have read through, and they don't talk about the company or staff. Only the detailing of the products and what they're offering, as well as all information during the technical design, daily updates with contractors and much more.

It might be best to change the article title to "WGH Ltd (Rides)" and remove any company information that isn't valid. All projects are saved via the archive through this link and can be seen in person: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/nfca/polopoly_fs/1.853443!/file/WGHlist.pdf

Thanks for the changes you last did on the review - but I think I'm at a dead-end now with gathering any info for the company history. It's just one of those quite engineering firms you really hear nothing of but still made an impact to the leisure and amusement scene.

DingRawD (talk) 18:32, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @DingRawD, a difficult one to be sure. An option could be to re-submit it for review, I'll recuse myself from reviewing it, and we'll get a second opinion from another reviewer? Let me know if you want to do this and I'll leave a recuse comment on the draft.
Alternatively, you might want to ask for assistance on Wikipedia:WikiProject_Amusement_Parks.
In any case, ref 40 still needs fixing. Qcne (talk) 20:03, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
I'm going to resubmit it for review and I've added the subject of the Vectus project WGH/Mr Howarth was apart of as well as their involvement in the Dreamland Scenic Railway restoration to the history section. Hopefully with the Vectus project that might be enough to help with the history to get it to par. I've removed the ref 40 (National Railway Museum). DingRawD (talk) 12:26, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
Well done. I think this puts it over the line now, so have accepted. It would be good to add some more WP:CATEGORIES and add it to Template:Roller_coaster_manufacturers. Qcne (talk) 14:13, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

Draft: GBIS

Hi @Qcne, thanks for the feedback on my article. I've had a close look at your comments regarding WP:PRIMARY and WP:GNG, as well as the advice on your User page. It's clear I need to focus on incorporating more secondary sources for the Great British Insulation Scheme. The scheme has received substantial coverage in news outlets like The Guardian and The Telegraph, among others. Since this is my first article, I wanted to check with you – are these sources considered reputable? I haven't come across any material on the topic in university presses, given that it's a government initiative, but there is plenty in the news about it given the ongoing cost of living debate. Thanks for your help, I appreciate your thoughts. AHawro (talk) 09:58, 19 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @AHawro. Yep, The Guardian and Telegraph work as news sources. What we need is significant coverage of this scheme in independent places, though not if they're just interviews with Ministers or Civil Servants. Qcne (talk) 10:14, 19 September 2023 (UTC)

Adobe Express

Thanks for your feedback on my submission. A few points I would like to make.

The Adobe entry Products listing has entries for every product except Express - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Inc.#Products

Adobe Express was developed by Adobe in 2021 as a new standalone. It's hard to not sound promotional when describing a product but this was never my intent.

Photoshop Express and Adobe Express are two separate applications and services. Photoshop Express is a mobile-only application.

Any feedback would be appreciated. GunterSchultz (talk) 18:14, 19 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @GunterSchultz. I take on board your points. I think it could be a separate article, but I'd like to see the language tightened up a bit more. e.g. "Adobe Express can be used to create a variety of content. Adobe Express also offers Adobe Express for Education – a free version for schools, which has over 56 million student and educator global users. The latest version of Adobe Express is available on desktop web." < this all reads a little promotional, the kind of thing I would read on a brochure. Qcne (talk) 11:35, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

At AfC today

Are you also making you way through Category:Pending AfC submissions in userspace? That's the second time I've moved a draft and was just opening AFCH to review when I noticed you'd done it already. XD TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 15:51, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

Ha! Sorry, I tend to spam the Random AfC submission button but I think it might discriminate against ones in that queue. Qcne (talk) 16:20, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
No need to apologize! I just found it amusing how our paths crossed in the same way multiple times in a row. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 16:30, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
I tend to prioritize articles in that que as its alot smaller. OLIfanofmrtennant (she/her) Questions? 21:28, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

Draft: Rayisa Khylko

Dear Qcne! Thanks for your attention to the article about my aunt-ballerina. She is currently in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. As you probably know, Ukraine is now fighting the war against Russia that attacked us on February 24th last year. Tomorrow is my aunt's birthday and I, her niece, wanted to cheer her up by publishing an article about her in one more language, in addition to the Ukrainian Хилько Раїса Олексіївна — Вікіпедія (wikipedia.org) and the Russian Хилько, Раиса Алексеевна — Википедия (wikipedia.org), because she is really a prominent ballerina who, despite of being aged 72 years and Russian missiles falling on Kyiv every night, gives every morning ballet classes to young dancers. You doubt the notability of this person? But in Japan, for example, she is still widely known as the "white ballerina" and has admirers of many years. From September 8th, I have added all the possible references I could find in English, and I think that the Ukrainian dance as part of the European culture needs to be supported today through popularizing the knowledge about its famous representatives. With regard to the above, I beg you not to delete the article from the English Wikipedia but let me know what else can be done to improve it and bring up to the Wikipedia standards. Thanks in advance and best regards! Ewigekon (talk) 17:50, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Ewigekon.
Firstly, I do genuinely wish your aunt a happy birthday and Ukraine all the best in it's terrible war against the Russian aggressors.
It's really difficult to write articles about people you know or who are related to (due to the WP:CONFLICTOFINTEREST), and it's even more difficult when you are writing an article as a present for someone.
I have to review articles based off our criteria, and I unfortunately can't let current events or emotion sway me one way or another: that would not be fair and is against the Articles for Creation Reviewers Code of Conduct.
Please check the WP:NPEOPLE criteria, which explains what we need for an article about a person. The problem with your draft is that the only two sources mentioned are both WP:PRIMARY and WP:TRIVIAL mentions, i.e. they are on websites that are directly linked to Raisa as her employer or awarding body, and are simply brief mentions.
We need to see significant coverage in multiple independent (not interviews with the subject or press releases) sources, such as newspapers, books, or academic journals. This could be news articles giving analysis, interpretation, or discussion of Raisa.
Note: the sources don't have to be in English: if you have Ukrainian or Russian-language sources that meet the above they could work.
But if, as you say, "I have added all the possible references I could find" then there is no possibility of an article on the English Wikipedia. Without that significant coverage in multiple independent sources there can be no article. The English Wikipedia is particularly strict with this rule: other language Wikipedia projects are separate and can be much more lax, which might explain why she has articles on the Ukrainian and Russian-language Wikipedias.
I really wish I could help, but the article simply does not show how she passes that criteria at this time. I understand this is disappointing, but I hope the above clarifies my position. Please be assured this is nothing personal against your aunt or your country.
Let me know if you have any questions, Qcne (talk) 18:09, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

Please make sure that all edits have ceased before moving the draft. It is not ready for publication. SounderBruce 23:12, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

Hey @SounderBruce- it looked okay to me, what was wrong with it? Feedback appreciated. Qcne (talk) 23:19, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
One of its references was a clear case of WP:CITOGENESIS; the references themselves weren't complete; the wrong infobox was used; the categories and navbox were missing...and most of all, the article is woefully short and doesn't show that adequate research was done. SounderBruce 23:22, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks- I did check all the non-primary sources and they looked to confirm the statements in the article. Which source was citogenesis, just for my own knowledge so I can spot them in the future?
You seem to be an expert in this area so I'll defer to your judgement on the research.
AfC drafts can still go to mainspace if they're stubs or don't have the correct infoboxes: I usually approve on a threshold that they won't be deleted via an AfD. Qcne (talk) 23:28, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

Draft:John Saunders (NYC CNC)

Thankyou for taking the time to review my submission. I thought this article would have a good chance after adding the 5 newspaper articles including The New York Times. This person is a bit unique in that he usually communicates on video, so allot(all?) of his interviews are videos, not text articles. He's a leader and mentor in the manufacturing community. A well known teacher and communicator. Maybe I understated his significance in effort of neutral tone. I've seen articles for people I believe are not as noteworthy (but I'm not an expert). There's a quite popular podcast he runs each week, I'll edit that in. Thankyou for your time. What do you suggest? KG Australia (talk) 23:14, 21 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi @KG Australia. The problem is that interviews (either in print or via video) do not count towards our notability criteria. We need to see significant coverage in multiple, independent, reliable, secondary sources. Your sources simply don't show that at the moment. Check WP:NPEOPLE and the more general WP:GNG which explains these criteria in detail. Qcne (talk) 09:59, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
thanks, it's been changed to John Saunders (machinist) ,still working on it. KG Australia (talk) 11:05, 23 September 2023 (UTC)

Draft:Sok Baraby

Hello Qcne! Could you help check this draft? Thanks. Bxrxbx (talk) 16:28, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

Sorry @Bxrxbx, Facebook, Twitter, and WP:PRIMARY sources can't be used to establish notability under WP:NPEOPLE. Your other two sources, khmertimeskh and nbc.gov.kh, don't seem to mention Sok Baraby, and sabay.com.kh is a very brief mention so also don't count.
We'd need to see significant coverage of this person in multiple independent reliable sources - not social media, not interviews, not PR pieces.
On that note I'm going to have to decline it again. Qcne (talk) 16:31, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
Could you mind deleting this draft? Thanks. Bxrxbx (talk) 11:06, 25 September 2023 (UTC)

Curious

Hi,

I'm curious if you had time to carefully read through the career section of this article where it is written like a CV before accepting to mainspace? Jamiebuba (talk) 19:44, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

Hia @Jamiebuba. I did, and I did some copyediting before accepting to mainspace. I wouldn't say it reads much like a CV, more of a professional history which is backed up by the primary source. But happy to get a second opinion from you? Qcne (talk) 08:54, 25 September 2023 (UTC)

IAGP draft page - please review and accept

Hi Qcne, I've been working on verified links to reference the page. I hope that's acceptable for moving to the main space now. Thanks, Fred Fred114 09:29, 1 September 2023 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fred114 (talkcontribs)

Hi Qcne, thanks for the comment on the draft page, however, it is easy to make these points that all Presidents, Congress, etc should be independently verified. In fact, they are accepted on the German wiki page here without any verification or attention.

HI Qcne, IAGP page put forward again for acceptance. Hope its acceptable. Fred114 06:49, 15 September 2023 (UTC)

Hello @QcneI have been informed that this article will be deleted. Could you help explain to me how can I solve this? Thanks. Bxrxbx (talk) 05:45, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
Hi @Bxrxbx. I see a maintenance tag that explains the article may be "merged, redirected, or deleted" if notability is not shown. There isn't an ongoing deletion discussion that I can see?
I believe this person meets WP:NPOLITICIAN. Qcne (talk) 09:57, 27 September 2023 (UTC)

Draft:David Kass

Hi, can you elaborate what you meant when you said at the AFCHD that Draft:David Kass "failed WP:NACADEMIC"? I just want to make sure that we're on the same page with that. Don't get me wrong, that draft had all sorts of problems, but I think it satisfies satisfied at least #5 of that guideline. Cheers, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 15:52, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

@DoubleGrazing bugger, it's been deleted now so I can't go back and check. Was he down as a named chair for something? If so I must have missed it. Mea culpa, trout me, etc. I'll apologise to the user if you can confirm. Qcne (talk) 16:19, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, he has a named chair, and at a fairly illustrious university, at that. And as poor as the referencing was, that fact was even supported.
But not to worry, and I don't think there's anything to apologise, it's water under the bridge now as the draft is deleted as a copyvio. The author will just have to start again... hopefully not before they disclose their COI, though. :) -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:24, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Draft: Taiwan Semiconductor

Hi Qcne,

Follow by your suggestions in last conversation for Draft:Taiwan Semiconductor, I have picked words to replace the parts that should follow the guideline to maintain a neutral and encyclopedic style, and added references from authority economic publishers in Taiwan for the first paragraph of History, and deleted the Subsidiary section. If possible, could you please expedite the review process? Many thanks,

Accepted, and disambiguation page created. I also removed some further non-neutral language throughout. Qcne (talk) 10:08, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
