Middleborough, Colchester[edit]

Hi there. Well done with all your edits to Colchester and surrounding articles. In citing ISBN 0950372749 ("Excavations at Lion Walk, Balkerne Lane, and Middleborough, Colchester, Essex") you might want to check the spelling - it's Middleborough you want in the title, not Middlesbrough (Yorks) or Middlesborough (Kentucky)! :) I've sorted out as many as I've found so far. Hope this helps; thanks and best wishes DBaK (talk) 12:06, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ha! Thanks for that and no worries. It's a tiny bee I have in my bonnet (Middlesbrough, not Colchester!) so it was no trouble at all to pick them up. Cheers, DBaK (talk) 17:50, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ransack[edit]

Hi. Sorry to bother you, and I am certainly not up for a fistfight over this, but are you sure that "ransacked from" is a correct usage here? My feeling, which is sort-of supported here, is that what gets ransacked is the place, but not the object from the place. In other words I can ransack your house (example only!) but I cannot ransack your collection of Dinky cars from your house. Does that make sense? I'm not sure what I am suggesting as an alternative verb without a minor rewrite, but is loot perhaps a bit more like it? I'd be interested to hear your view. Thanks and best wishes DBaK (talk) 18:55, 8 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Wow, I hadn't appreciated all that interesting context. I'd say "taken from" looks pretty comfortable there. Thanks and best wishes DBaK (talk) 21:53, 9 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome! — LlywelynII 11:48, 12 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
