Image copyright problem with Image:Last.fm player.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Last.fm player.png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 13:19, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just want to say cheers for expanding so much on this. The article I started just had the bare essentials, but now it really does the album justice. ~Mr Inky 12:06, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know you've already inserted your input at the corresponding peer review, but do you think there's anything further that could be included in the actress' article? All thoughts are welcome, thanks. Never Mystic 22:11, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed your NPOV tag on this article as you haven't bothered to detail your complaints on the talk page. I would appreciate you going putting forward any points that you feel would improve the article, but random wholesale taggin of articles helps no-one. Adoption[edit]

Hi,

I've been around some time and decided to try adoption. I have no experience in the field of music though. Just check out my userpage and then decide. Do you have any specific questions or things you'd like to do here?

--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 12:11, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay then. What do you want to contribute about? You might consider joining a wikiproject?--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 15:17, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, nice to see you've found that project. I've BOLDLY edited your userpage, check the syntaxis to see how it works. I suppose English is your mothertongue, so I've added a Babelbox. If you have more questions just ask okay?--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 15:33, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Cultofluna.jpg[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Cultofluna.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ResurgamII 00:55, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Julia Styles[edit]

Hi,

you're looking for the WP:FAR page, or the Featured Article Review process. I doubt however that it shouldn't be featured, although it could be improved.

There are two things you could do, that is starting the FAR process, or you can express your concerns on the article's talk page. If I were you I would first ask for some improvements by clearly and politely stating your concerns on the talk page, and alerting User:PedanticallySpeaking if there is no response after some time. If that doesn't resolve the issue then I would move to FAR.

Good question!

Adopters tip of the day[edit]

Hi,

your contributing nicely! Some tips:

  1. There's an option (in 'my preferences') to alert you when you have not entered an edit summary.
  2. To save time entering an edit summary, you can use abbreviations, like cat for "added a category", add when you've added some text, etc.

Enjoy Wikipedia,

GA Review of Isis (band)[edit]

Hello, I reviewed the article, and unfortunately, I found that it did not quite meet the six good article criteria. You can see the article's talk page for more details.

As for becoming a GA reviewer, just familiarize yourself with the criteria, and you can begin reviewing. I'd read a few reviews made by established users such as User:HighwayCello to help you with the process. Once you've reviewed a couple articles, you can add yourself to the list of reviewers if it pleases you. If you have any questions, by all means go ahead and ask me. Thanks for your contributions! -- Cielomobile talk / contribs 23:47, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome! I hope you enjoy being a reviewer, and keep working on that article. It's a good start and has potential; it just needs fine-tuning. -- Cielomobile talk / contribs 05:12, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Will you help me make this into a featured article? Thanks, --SunStar Net 01:15, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Cult of luna (album).jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cult of luna (album).jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Thanks for all the suggestions on the Platform game article. I think I've addressed the issues, except for a couple that I feel are better left unchanged (I adressed these in my comment on the FA review). Isis (band)[edit]

Hello,

I've posted a few comments for you re: Isis on peer review.

Thanks,

Jamie L. 00:56, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I currently have the article Quatermass II up at peer reveiw, and User:LuciferMorgan recommended that I ask you if you possibly have the time to cast your eye over it and give me some feedback? If you could I'd be very grateful — I'm hoping to nominate the article for GA status, or possibly even FA if people think it might be worth it. Thanks! Angmering 10:56, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah... I'd been working under the impression that if we formatted dates like that, then the software could then make them appear in each user's preferred date displaying format? I'm sure I read that somewhere... (And to be fair I don't think it's quite, US format, which would have month-date-year, rather than the rather neutral year-month-date I've used). Anyway, thanks for the initial comments! :-) Angmering 18:22, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers, many thanks! I'll reply more fully on PR when I've had time to go through the suggestions. Angmering 22:15, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've made some changes and replied on PR — any better? Angmering 11:14, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much! :-) I may ask for your help again sometime in the near future, if that's all right, as I've recently also been building up the article on Nigel Kneale, author of the Quatermass serials, and have my eye on getting that up to FA standard eventually. Anyway, thanks again! Angmering 16:48, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Should you happen to get the time to spare, I have now put up a peer review request for Nigel Kneale. Any help would be very gratefully received, as I really want to try and push this one as an FAC. Cheers! Angmering 21:42, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for your comments, all very welcome. I and User:Dweller will do our best to implement them where possible and push for a final GA review. Thanks again, and all the best. The Rambling Man 18:07, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Seegoon. From your thorough review of Christ Illusion, I know you're rather good at reviewing articles. A mate of mine from the Beatles Wikiproject has nominated this article for peer review, so I'm wondering if you could throw in your two cents as regards the article? I'd be real grateful if you weren't busy. Thanks for any help you may be able to give. LuciferMorgan 21:41, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Much thanks for the review, which was greatly appreciated. I'm sure your assessment will be much helpful in improving the quality of the article. LuciferMorgan 22:33, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Seegoon, first i would like to thank you again for comments on Slayer which helped get it promoted (if you missed my message above). I have recently been working on Reign in Blood in an attempt to get it featured and was hoping you could take a look as your comments are very helpful. It seems you're quite busy with requests so whenever you get some free time or if you don't have the time then no problem. Thanks again :) M3tal H3ad 10:56, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks :) M3tal H3ad 09:43, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Seegoon, I hope all is well and once again thanks for the helpful peer review comments on Christ Illusion. I wish to submit the article for FAC very soon, and was hoping you could give it the once over to make sure there are no visible problems within the article. If you're too busy, then that's fine - anything you can say regarding the article is fine, whether it be critical or an appraisal. Thanks! I'm buzzing others from the peer review with this same message also, so didn't think you wanted to feel left out. :) LuciferMorgan 22:34, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comments - I'll try addressing them. All in all though, the album was slated and the drummer was praised in negative reviews - odd I know. As concerns the Slayer articles, it's Metal Head who's done all the work. All I've done is rewrite 2 articles and review articles Metal Head has put up for review, so he's the one really who's heavily improved the articles. LuciferMorgan 01:30, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: A little something in return[edit]

Hi Seegoon, and thanks for asking me to take a look at the article. I don't actually properly review GA articles since I look for anything to fail an article on since I'm a picky so and so. Anyway, I've taken a look at your article. A few quick comments (and sorry if I'm nicking all the ideas from the Slayer article!);

1. Have you ever thought of modelling the "Members" list on the Slayer [[1]]? There's also a "Timeline" section underneath in the Slayer article which could easily be pasted and accordingly modified for the Isis article.

2. If you wanted, you could create a page for the Isis discography and replace it with, yeah you guessed, a bit like [[2]]. It's personal preference really, but I reckon that the Slayer discography article, given a lot of work, could possibly get up to an FLC (you could get the Isis discography up to FLC too if you wanted). I just think those boxes really consume a lot of the article space unnecessarily and detract from the article itself, but that's an opinion like I said.

3. The "Audio samples" are all bunched up together, so have you ever thought of breaking them up and littering them throughout the article in appropriate places? It'd be better that way I think.

4. Here's the main one, and the one which'll depend on whether you get GA or not; my main gripe with the article is the article says, in places, well like this;

"Whereas Celestial was still deeply rooted in metal and hardcore, 2002's follow-up, Oceanic, saw the band acquire new characteristics comparable to post-rock and ambient music, effectively birthing the genre of post-metal in what many saw as a logical progression."

Of course this is cited to AMG, but the problem with the above is that that's an opinion. The way it's worded though is like it's a fact, when it's not - some may see this as a correct opinion, while others will not. It might get through GA like this, but if you aspire for FA then I don't think it would. When citing opinions, it's always best to say whose voiced that opinion.

Overall, it's quite a nifty article though and you should be proud of yourself. It could get GA without doing anything of what I said, but I thought you'd be receptive to any feedback I may have. As for my Slayer stuff, it's mainly cos I'm fed up with the futile efforts of the Metal WIkiproject (it's disgraceful) whereas the Slayer Wikiproject, albeit small, seems to be improvising the articles. Once Christ Illusion is out of the way (ie. its FA), I'll probably be then doing lighter editing for awhile. Jihad (song) I'll expand soon, like I did with Eyes of the Insane - I was thinking of having a go at one or two minor Maiden articles in future, but some seem to guard them like the plague. There's enough material to do their latest CD, or Metallica's last one, but it's all a question of being left alone by the crufties. Anyway, I'll shut up now. Good luck with the Isis article. LuciferMorgan 22:28, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, what else do I need to do with the Christ Illusion article. Ceoil is working with me on it, but another viewpoint is always welcome - the more the merrier. Is the prose ok in the article, or real bad? LuciferMorgan 22:32, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I actually meant Christ Illusion - a Slayer album article. I just corrected the above. Slayer is already FA, which Metal Head fixed up. I wish to get Christ Illusion to eventual FA - it's already GA. I can't sort out the sources (some have moaned they're all mainly from Blabbermouth), but prose has been raised as an issue. I addressed all the concerns you made the other day that I could, so was wondering if you would re-review the article? LuciferMorgan 00:09, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks in advance! LuciferMorgan 00:17, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added more info to the "Recording" section, so can you weed out any prose problems I've made? Thanks. LuciferMorgan 02:15, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for getting back to me - I addressed the three specific concerns you highlighted. Ceoil said this; "The Rubin section needs to be overhauled, haven't read the sources on this yet; but the sequence of events is unclear in the present version." Can you help me understand as to what he's referring to? Also, another thing;

"Slayer came under fire due to several concerns surrounding Christ Illusion" - How do I reword this "redundant" sentence?

Do you of anything else I need to do for this to fulfil FA criteria? Is the prose fine? Does the article make sense and is it accessible? I wanna submit it real soon :) LuciferMorgan 18:15, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's now an FA :) LuciferMorgan 19:04, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Eyes of the Insane[edit]

Hi Seegoon, I was just wish to once again thank you for your help with Christ Illusion. At the moment I'm thinking of elevating "Eyes of the Insane" to GA status which I think is possible, and maybe FA if enough sources are available. Right now it's at peer review, so any feedback you may have is greatly welcomed. LuciferMorgan 04:34, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Seegoon, if you have the time could you also maybe look at Angel of Death (song) which i want to get Featured. Your previous comments were very helpful, and I'd appreciate if you could provide more useful feedback, if you don't have the time then no probs, thanks for your time :). Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:EdenMaine.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.

If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.

P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot (talk) 19:34, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposed: Pterygiophore → Fish anatomy[edit]

It has been proposed to merge the content of Pterygiophore into Fish anatomy. Since you have previously edited one of these articles, I thought you might be interested. You're welcome to participate in the discussion if you like. --B. Wolterding 14:44, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deftones[edit]

Well we had one FA when our project was made, so we had something to go on and just continued adding to it improving articles. Myself and Lucifer were the only "real" contributors, we got help from two others with adding the finishing touches, and we've had about 10 people sign-up who have not even edited a Slayer related article!

This is what you're looking for to create the assessment table Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Using the bot, goodluck! M3tal H3ad (talk) 05:57, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:EdenMaineLogo.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:EdenMaineLogo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. RE: Deftones[edit]

I like it, particularly the way the B-sides section is organized. Just a few things:

  • Keep in mind that gold certification doesn't necessarily mean that an album has sold 500,000 copies, just that 500,000 copies have been shipped; sales numbers come from SoundScan, certifications come from the RIAA.
  • Billboard Heatseekers should be its own column.
  • Saturday Night Wrist needs a reference for the sales figure.
  • The "Extended plays" section should be organized similarly to the "Studio albums" section.
  • Try not to use small fonts. --Brandt Luke Zorn (talk) 23:01, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Deftones live cover.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Deftones live cover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page.
