Welcome![edit]

Hello, Wild-eidolon, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please complete the student training, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Melipona[edit]

I noticed that you expressed interest in editing articles on the bee genus Melipona, and I though you might want to take a look at articles created by students in another class editing Wikipedia: Melipona beecheii, Melipona bicolor, Melipona quadrifasciata, Melipona scutellaris and Melipona subnitida. While that class has an especially ambitious Wikipedia assignment, you might find some interesting ideas in the way they presented their work. Peer Review[edit]

Major Points

- Overall, a well thought out, nicely organized wikipedia article that definitely expands on the original "stub" article

- Indications are clearly made on what areas the article will be expanded on, and it appears as though everything is covered

- It might be worth expanding on the close relationship between Meliponini tribe and the Bombinbi tribe (and what makes them different/unique, yet still a part of the monophyletic corbiculate bee group), or just mentioning other bees that are a part of the Meliponini tribe

Minor Points

- Under "Phylogeny," the sentence "The other three are the highly eusocial honey bees, Apini, the..", might read better if the first comma was changed to a colon, "The other three are the highly eusocial honey bees: Apini, the.."

- The word, Melipona is italicized everywhere in the article, except in the first sentence under "Phylogeny;" however, it is being referred to as the "genus Melipona"--I'm not too sure if this changes the italicization style, I'd just thought that I'd point it out!

Nice job!Kdemkiw (talk) 22:37, 18 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review 2[edit]

Other than expanding upon several sections, I'm having a hard time finding anything to correct. The article is well-written, sourced, linked and accessible to the average educated reader. The Distribution and Habit section might need some references. Eusocial could use more links; I missed it in the first paragraph and couldn't find it anywhere else. The claudogram seems a little awkwardly placed, maybe move it to the center a little bit? Also the sentence "one of the most beneficial..." in Melipona and humans should remove most beneficial. It seems more like an opinion than an encyclopedic fact. These are really minor edits though, the article reads and looks like a legitimate wikipedia article, I think it just needs a little more information in some sections. Good Job!
