April 2020[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions; however, please remember the essential rule of respecting copyrights. Edits to Wikipedia, such as your edit to the page Rossby wave, may not contain material from copyrighted sources unless used with permission. It is almost never okay to copy extensive text out of a book or website and paste it into a Wikipedia article with little or no alteration, though you can clearly and briefly quote copyrighted text in the right circumstances. Content that does not comply with this legal rule must be removed. For more information on this, see:

If you still have questions, there is a new contributor's help page, or you can click here to ask a question on your talk page and someone will be along to answer it shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia:

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Copying licensed material requires attribution[edit]

Hi. I see in a recent addition to Fake news you included material from a webpage that is available under a compatible Creative Commons Licence. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this licensing requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 14:23, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

Just follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 as shown and fill in the details

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. Remember that when adding content about health, please only use high-quality reliable sources as references. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations. (There are several kinds of sources that discuss health: here is how the community classifies them and uses them.) WP:MEDHOW walks you through editing step by step. A list of resources to help edit health content can be found here. The edit box has a built-in citation tool to easily format references based on the PMID or ISBN.

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which has a button "Cite" click on it
  2. Then click on "Automatic" or "Manual"
  3. For Manual: Choose the most appropriate template and fill in the details, then click "Insert"
  4. For Automatic: Paste the URL or PMID/PMC and click "Generate" and if the article is available on PubMed Central, Citoid will populate a citation which can be inserted by clicking "Insert"

We also provide style advice about the structure and content of medicine-related encyclopedia articles. The welcome page is another good place to learn about editing the encyclopedia. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a note. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 13:06, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have re-blocked your account after detecting a violation of our copyright policy, on Somnolence. — Diannaa (talk) 12:14, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I also found a violation on Spatial networkDiannaa (talk) 12:36, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

{unblock|reason=

}

The content you added to Spatial network is compatibly licensed, so I have re-added it and added the attribution as required under the terms of the license. Sorry for the mistake.

Content you added to Somnolence:

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) influences the increase the transition from wake to sleep (“drowsiness”). It has been found that sleep bout durations can be described by an exponential distribution with a longer characteristic time scale for OSA compared to healthy children. This can be understood by a random walk model representing the integrated neuronal voltage of wake-promoting neurons.

Source document:

Furthermore, OSA alters the dynamics of sleep-stage transitions and in particular increases the transition time from being awake to falling asleep ("drowsiness"). In this letter, we show that sleep bout durations during this transient state can be described by an exponential distribution with a longer characteristic time scale for OSA compared to healthy children. This finding can be simulated and better understood by using a random walk model of the integrated neuronal voltage of wake-promoting neurons.

Overlapping test is highlighted in Bold. This edit was the reason you were blocked.— Diannaa (talk) 13:34, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I'm sorry, i thought that if its not the exact words am aloud to do that. now that you told me i will certienly not do that again. pleas unblock me so i can continue contributing to Wikipedia occurring to the rules. thanx.

Decline reason:

Frankly, I think this is the end of the line. You repeatedly assured us you fully understood copyright. You've repeatedly placed the entire project in jeopardy with your actions. You are saying again that you understand, but I see no reason to believe this time is any different from the previous times. I think it best if we leave you blocked, as it is just too dangerous to unblock you again. Yamla (talk) 11:26, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I think the overlap is really minimal, you know I have no intention of violating Wikipedia rules, (that's why I asked Dianna, and found out, to make sure I'm not doing something wrong. i guess there was a misunderstanding.) I ask that unblock me. I will not repeat this mistake again.

Decline reason:

You won't be unblocked until you convince us that you understand copyright. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 20:55, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I read in wikis copyright policy that it is legal to read an article, reformulate the concepts in your own words, and add it to Wikipedia. i also read about Close paraphrasing and now i understand under what circumstances you can re-use facts that are copyrighted. the presentation, the structure, and the phrasing of the cotent will my own original work.

Decline reason:

I'm sorry, but I'm just not convinced you will be able to avoid this problem. --Deep fried okra (schalte ein) 07:18, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

How but if i agree to not add any more content licensed elsewhere (even after reformulating the concepts in my own words) like the user Deep fried okra suggested? ill add only content that is licensed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution license. Give me a chance, you'll see i won't break my word.

Decline reason:

Having read your unblock appeals, I now understand what's going on. You are highly eager to contribute to Wikipedia, but you aren't confident enough with written English to do so effectively. You try to work around this by copying and pasting. I've seen this movie before, and am therefore withdrawing your ability to make further appeals. MER-C 08:32, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Spatial modular model.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Spatial modular model.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 06:29, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock discussion[edit]

The only remedy I see is for user to agree to not add any content licensed elsewhere. I know how hard it is to not close paraphrase, but she has not changed the text enough to not close paraphrase. It is not convincing to say one says one has read and understand, The adequacy and application of that understanding is lacking. Inclined to decline unless someone wants to take to WP:AN --Deep fried okra (schalte ein) 19:42, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
