Competition climbing is a nascent sport in India. It is governed by the recently formed Federation of Indian Sport Climbing, and was initially administered by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation.[1] In 2024, Rajmohan Pillai and Sushil Malik were elected the president and vice-president of the SCFI.[2][3]

Bangalore is a hub of competition climbing in India.[4] The Nehru Institute of Mountaineering conducts short term courses in competition climbing.[5]
