That is a complete non-sequitur. These articles detail Chinese cultural influence. Nothing about this article restricts mentioning which countries are in the Western conception of East Asia. Korea does not use Chinese characters, Japan westernized after the Meiji restoration, and China uses simplified characters. Your argument is a straw-man. Vietnam should be included. undo Tag: Undo

On top of that, as I have kept telling you, Vietnam is classfied as a Southeast Asian country rather than an East Asian country and doesn't even use Chinese characters in its writing system anymore. This is an article about culture, and not geography. Vietnam is culturally East Asian. Vietnamese (along with Korean and Japanese) are still used today to determine the pronunciation of middle Chinese. undo Tag: Undo
