The Kolathiris are a Velir lineage that are a younger sister dynasty of Ay/Venadu/Thiruvithamkur and are descendants of the Cheras Pandyas Cholas and Pallavas. The Vengayils have no known ancestors related to Thiruvithamkur/Kolathiri or any other royalty. They have no recorded existence prior to 1800s.
