Hello, Wee Curry Monster. I appeal to you because I might have discovered a possible case of manipulation in a wikipedia page belonging to the military history project, though I'm not sure. The page which I'm refering to is Battle of Villaviciosa. It's apparently suitable referenced, but most of the cited content appears to be a translation of an article in a Spanish website here. I have thoroughly studied the policies of Wikipedia, but I don't know if in this particular case they are being violated or not.--Sir Ignel (talk) 17:56, 30 April 2011 (UTC) |

“ | Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they look for a place to dump it. And if you let them, they’ll dump it on you. So when someone wants to dump on you, don’t take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Believe me. You’ll be happier. --THE LAW OF THE GARBAGE TRUCK | ” |

You've probably spotted that they're now using the ID JamesHawks, which I've just added to the BLP noticeboard section. Nick Cooper (talk) 12:42, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, you've obviously spotted him already! Nick Cooper (talk) 12:43, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Are you thinking what I'm thinking? (ps the addition seems more or less word for word a match with http://www.military-quotes.com/forum/friendly-fire-t15869.html) I'll also note the 40 aircraft is a lot for a squadron and the article on 233 mentions 30 Dakotas and some Ansons at the start of the day and losses of only 4 aircraft. The time zone information needs to be updated to reflect the all year round "summer time" experiment for 2011. This means that Camp Time is going to be GMT-4 and Stanley Time GMT-3 all year round. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.248.193.121 (talk) 18:18, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
RSN
I saw your note at RSN, and while I have no particularly useful contribution, I wanted to express my sympathy. Dealing with POV warriors on the basis of what they merely guess the source says is enormously frustrating. WhatamIdoing (talk) 06:04, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you, it nearly caused me to leave the project and I've had no support from admins. Wee Curry Monster talk 07:48, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
- I hope that you'll stick around. Unfortunately, it really takes quite a lot to get the community to defend itself from nonsense. I think part of the problem is that we can't look across the room and see that people are tearing their hair out, so we can always pretend that whoever is doing that thankless task is perfectly happy and handling it all just fine.
- I did eventually have one small idea: Are you familiar with the WP:LIBRARY? If you need to find out whether a source actually says what it is purported to say, and can't get the source yourself, then it's sometimes possible to find someone with access to it who will check for you. I can't say that it's 100% reliable, but it might be worth trying if you're desperate. WhatamIdoing (talk) 16:35, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Your comment
Regarding this [1] I hope you do not think I have ownership issues? I have used the talk page and discussed to death every edit I have made. All the content is (I feel) well written and well supported. Do you think I do have issues? What would your advice be? Tentontunic (talk) 17:06, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you, I responded on my talk page, but thought I had better mention it in case you missed it :) Tentontunic (talk) 17:49, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Hello
You may also find this group helpful Wikipedia:WikiProject Resource Exchange/Shared Resources - they have may more resources and the page has links to digitized bibs of books like at Bibliography of Canadian military history.Moxy (talk) 01:05, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for your message. I won't comment further because I'm convinced that resolution will only come (gradually) from working on the detail. Good wishes -- Andrew Dalby 08:32, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi Wee Cury, after being swamped with work and lately with the Libyan crisis and a lot of editing at my home-province of South Tyrol I decided today to have a look at Paulioetc... oh, yeah! this one is a problem! I put Friendly fire on my watchlist and will keep and eye on it now too. noclador (talk) 07:19, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
