Friday the 13th is an upcoming slasher film remake of the first three to four Friday the 13th films.[1] The film will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman[2], written by Freddy vs. Jason's Damian Shannon and Mark Swift[3], and produced by Michael Bay's production company Platinum Dunes.[4] It has a tentative release date of 2009.

Plot details

Although the screenplay is still being written, it has been confirmed that this film will explore the origins of Jason Voorhees, and he will be the main murderer, instead of his mother. It has also been confirmed that Jason will wear the infamous hockey mask, the setting will remain Camp Crystal Lake[5], and that Tommy Jarvis might be in the film.[6]

Production

New Line originally hired Mark Wheaton to write the script, but he is no longer involved. The film is currently in the development stage with Damian Shannon and Mark Swift penned to write the script.[7] It is set to be a co-production of New Line Cinema and Paramount Pictures.
