Kevin was born in San Leandro, California. His mother, Maite Pereira, is an elementary school teacher in Emeryville, California. While at high school, Pereira hosted Pointless Audio under the pseudonym Captain Immy, an Internet radio show about gaming, using the RealAudio format.
