It is said, according to one anonymous opponent, that the Panas bowling program is so intense that team members "eat, drink and breathe" bowling. Panas' varsity football team, coached by Anthony Fata, has won two games in the past three seasons, one of them coming this season against Brewster. The team hopes for much improvement for the next season.

Walter Panas High School is a public high school serving students in grades 9-12 in Cortlandt Manor, New York, USA. It was opened in 1972, becoming the second high school to serve the Lakeland Central School District. It is a sister school to Lakeland High School of Shrub Oak, New York, USA. Both schools have a combined catchment area of approximately 40 square miles in northern Westchester County. As of Dec 2005, the principal is Susan B Strauss and the assistant principal is Mr. Stewart Hanson aka Coordinator of Buses. Another assistant principal is Ms. Marlene Gracia and the school has a student population of 900 with 72 teaching faculty. Its school colors are blue and gold and its mascot is the black panther.

History

The Lakeland Central School District has recently redistricted, so now a select few students who attended George Washington Elementary School will now be attending Walter Panas High School after completing 3 years at Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School.

Walter Panas high school has made many changes through the years. There is a new turf athletic field and a new track. New metal bleachers for spectators have replaced wooden stands.

The school is accredited by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York. The 2007 graduating class of 211 students had an average GPA of 99.71 and SAT score of 1560 (3 areas). A total of 195 students took 332 AP exams, with 61% scoring a 3 (out of 5) or better.[1]
